“Make sure you stay in a mountain view room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2009

Stayed here for two nights, and it's a very good choice for business or leisure. Certainly couldn't be better placed if you have a ferry connection, but is also handy for the centre of Patras. The staff are professional and took a lot of trouble to sort out a problem with my bill, which was caused by another guest using my room number. I had a room on 5th floor at back and this was much quieter than others who had a front room - although they have a great view of the sea. Rooms are well equipped and good size, with shower and bath in mine. TV choice very limited though if that matters to you. The restaurant is worth visiting for its view alone, but the food was good quality. Overall a good choice in Western Greece.

Great locastion as is opposite the ferry terminals. The staff were extremely helpful and spoke very good english.

Free Internet access

Rooms large, comfortable and clean, maids really friendly

Breakfast was a good selection of pastries, eggs, cereal, toast, greek sausages etc

Close to the bars and restaurants as well, if staying after being on a ferry all night

Stayed for a week on business. This is a solid 4 star hotel, renovated not long ago.

It did tick all the important boxes for me: 1) mountain view rooms are decent size and avoid noise from the busy road in front of the hotel, 2) air-conditioning is modern and works efficiently and silently, 3) no-smoking floors (important in Greece where everyone seems to smoke incessantly), 4) ample bathrooms with shower cubicle and no unnecessary bath (at least in my standard room), 5) friendly, professional staff, many of whom speak excellent English (not to be taken for granted in Patras), 6) close to amenities, 7) reasonable restaurant (but the portions are over-large for European standards, so order less food; the Greek wine list is above average and worth sampling).

There were also niggles, but they really weren't critical: 1) shower cubicle had been badly fitted and dumped any water hitting it on floor (but floor was fitted with drain so not really a problem, but slightly disconcerting), 2) eccentric single mixer control in shower (pull = off, push = on) contrasting with standard fitting on sink, 3) Patras is all about the docks and fails to utilize its superb location and views (but this isn't the hotel's fault).

Would stay at this hotel again, it is good value for a visitor. Hoping not to have to visit Patras for a while, though -- the city itself needs a thorough refurbishment.

  • Liked — Free Internet access in quiet, airconditioned room (bring an Ethernet cable)
  • Disliked — It's in Patras...

I stayed in this hotel for one night in May following a business meeting at the Science Park Patras. I would agree with the rest of the reviewers. My room was 302, which had no see-front view. The dinning area on the 6th floor facing the harbour area was quite a delight during the sunset. The dinner quality could be somewhat improved in terms of price to value.

My room was very clean and tidy, I did not get a WiFi access which is a must for a business traveler nowadays. The decoration was quite elaborate and tasteful. I would give the hotel an 9/10 mark considering the charge which is around 100 euro/night. Not bad actually. The breakfast was decent but not extravagant but then it is a 4 star hotel. Overall I would book with them again on a next business trip, especially on company's expense!

Patras palace is a brand new hotel in the heart of Patra center. It is located in front of the port with excellent sea views, next to the bus station and there is a private parking under reception. It is only 2 minutes walking from agiou Nikolaou street where all the shopping area and the café shop are located. The room and the balcony were big enough for the hotel’s category, good quality of linens and bed materials nice curtain and carpet. Certainly, I would expect a bathtub instead of a shower in a four star hotel but it was not big deal. Further more what I loved in the room was the light system! There were as many as we needed offering a nice, romantic, minimal result. I was quite impressed by the level of security all over the hotel. We visited the city during high season (carnival 2007) and every time we entered the hotel there was a security clerk at the entrance who asked about our room details and personal id. That made us feel safe during our stay as all over the city there were thousands of crazy – drunk carnivals.
We did not use the restaurant for the breakfast as we never wake up early enough. But we did use several times the room service which it was ok.
Finally I would like to say a huge thank you to Ms Ioanna Bareli for her excellent service. Ioanna was the person who made our reservation, satisfied every single requirement we had, allocated us in nice rooms, assisted us with every information required through out our stay and she was always pleasant to us by asking questions and making recommendations.
The only disadvantage of the hotel was that there was no safe deposit box in the room and guests should transfer their valuables at the reception wait 20 minutes until the manager come to open the big hotel’s safe.

  • Disliked — there was no safe deposit box in the room

I have stayed at Patras Palace several times during the past 18 months (the last time being about 6 months ago). The place still shines as it is only 2 1/2 years old and the rooms are very comfortable with premium quality pieces of furniture and bedsheets. The sea view rooms are even better and more spacious. The cleaning service was very good and all the personel of the hotel was very willing to offer anything possible for a really pleasurable stay, always with an honest smile on their faces. I felt the need to write this review as there was nothing written for this wonderful hotel. I hope it remains so friendly, clean and with the same reasonable prices for many more years.
