“One of our nicest stays in Greece”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2012

Olympia is a terrific place to visit, and the Olympian Asty made it extra-special. We arrived in the most blinding rainstorm, and we did in fact have a little difficulty finding it. We were met the moment we pulled in by the manager holding two large umbrellas to help us out of the car and to get our things into the hotel with a minimum of wetness. The room was large and comfortable, the view fabulous. Fortunately the rain abated and we were able to go out for dinner, but the next night we decided to eat in the hotel, after a swim in the very-chilly-end-of- October swimming pool. The meal was wonderful, the service very good. Breakfast buffet was good. Everyone friendly and helpful. We spent two nights and would gladly stay again.

We choose the hotel because of the enthousiastic stories of other visitors, and we fully agree b them. The location is beautifull, especially the view from the great swimming pool and the restaurant.
We rented a family room and it felt like an appartment. We had some problems with the shower, but that was immediately fixed. We very much enjoyed tHe dinner in the restaurant

The only disappointment was that our travel agent booked us only one night at the Olympion Asty. I could have stayed indefinitely. All other hotels on our trip through the Pelopponesos pale in comparison. Olympion Asty, a short drive to Olympia and museum/archaeological sites, is perched on a hill overlooking the region. The hotel was immaculate; staff were wonderful; our room was huge and well--appointed, and parking plentiful. The in-house restaurant was excellent -- their "Mixed Grille for Two" easily would feed four hungry adults; and the dining room's poolside setting is relaxing. The pool itself is gorgeous, pristine, and big; and poolside service prompt and cheerful. The staff seem happy to be employed there and did everything possible to make us feel welcome.

HOTEL REVIEW # 185 Olympia Nasty

MY TRAVEL STYLE: If possible, I try to stay away from business hotels and strongly prefer resorts that resemble the Four Seasons, Aman, and Oberoi but try to find similar properties at lower cost. I seek out the “wow” experiences.

LOCATION: Very good. The views and seclusion are nice but it’s definitely a car ride to town. Town is definitely not as good of a place to stay.

BEST WAY TO GET THERE: Need a car. Follow the signs to Hotel Europa as there were no signs in the main town of Olympia to this hotel. Asty is 2 minutes drive past Europa on the same road.

TYPE OF ROOM:

 Standard.

BED/SHEETS/PILLOW: Bed was too hard and sheets were of mediocre quality. Pillows were mediocre. Not an enjoyable bed.

LIGHTING: Good in both room and bathroom.

BATHROOM/SHOWER: Shower pressure was good but the positioning of the shower head was not in a good place for an enjoyable shower. Shower is in the bathtub. Some mold but overall clean. Bathroom has zero style and is very basic.

TOILETRIES: Mediocre… probably best to bring your own.

CLEANLINESS: Room is very clean.

A/C: Barely worked. We almost checked out because we were worried about not being able to sleep. We were told all rooms were the same. We went to Hotel Europa and it felt colder but not by much. Fortunately, the temperature outside the room became cold so the room temperature was adequate as a result.

STYLE OF ROOM:. Zero style. Ugly furniture. Surprising with this being a newer hotel that they choose such outdated and cheap furniture.

COMMON AREA: Definitely the highlight is the pool and that we felt away from the big tour groups that the other hotels attract. Lobby is nice but there was no AC and it was very hot inside.

QUIET: Our room was very quiet.

FOOD: Bad. We had spaghetti and pork souvlaki which were both not very good. I almost left mid-way through the meal to go to a different restaurant. Breakfast was also disappointing. Items are pre-cooked, and the cereal was stale. OJ was not freshly squeezed and food presentation was lacking.

TV/INTERNET: TV was very small and not a flat screen; laughable and probably the worst TV I have ever seen in a hotel. Internet signal did not reach our room so we had to go to the lobby for service.

SERVICE: Nothing special at restaurant or front desk.

SUMMARY: I’m not sure where would be better to stay but this place was not enjoyable. Beds at Europa were more comfortable but the style of the hotel was more like a business hotel than resort. There were many tour groups at Europa. I would probably still choose to stay at the Olympian Asty or perhaps try a 3rd property altogether.

Up above the town of Olympia but within walking distance; set in manicured grounds; chalet-type rooms with balconies opening onto a marvellous view. It's a shame we had only one night here! Everything you could wish for as a tired traveller...and a pool to cool down in. Dinner and breakfast good - staff very attentive.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms odder the same views and facilities.

My husband and I stayed here for one night, June 11, 2011 and wish we had booked two nights. We came from Nafplio and had no trouble finding the hotel. Plenty of parking space available. Main building consisted of reception, lounge, dining, and bar areas. Huge, lovely pool to the side of the main building. Pool is not heated so the water was a bit too cold for me but my husband enjoyed his swim. Great views from the pool of the Alfeios Valley and the Ionian Sea. Amazing sunsets. Our room was #103 which was spacious, clean, simply furnished including a seating/couch area and table and chairs, desk, TV. Balcony had a nice view of the valley and if you really looked hard enough with a zoom lens on your camera, the Ionian Sea. Views were much better from the pool area. Bathroom included a bathtub/shower combo, hairdryer, some toiletries. Since we had a rental car it was very easy to get to the archaeological site and town. Breakfast buffet included an assortment of juices, fruits, breads, eggs, coffee, tea. It was filling and tasted fine. No complaints.

For dinner we went in to town and ate at Ambrosia which was nice. Would have liked to have stayed an extra night as we didn't have any time to really explore the town. It would have also been nice to be able to split our time-see the archaeological site on one day and the museum the next day. With only the one night I felt rushed.

I booked this hotel per reviews on TA. Booked on 1/11/11 for 92 euros per night which included taxes and buffet breakfast. Parking is free. Property is well maintained, pretty landscaping, pool very clean, and staff welcoming and available with map of the town, directions, etc. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this property.

Room Tip: Our room was #103. Spacious, clean, nice views, quiet.

We stayed at Olympion Asty for 2 nights in last july. It was a quiet place with a nice view of the mountains around. A bit hard to find, but it's a good value for the price.
Rooms are very wide and the bathroom is very small. But it' s OK for a "in between" hotel.
It was very clean, nice pool, and good breakfast with a large selection of fruits breads and viennoises.
You will need to take the car to go to ancient Olympia
