We ate here three times during our holiday in Lemnos. It's about 15 minutes walk up a steep hill from Plati beach to Plati village, but once there you realise that it is worth it!
The restaurant fills the little square in the village and is covered by a canopy of trees and vines. Although the food is very good, it is the atmosphere which really makes this place special. Arrive early in high season or you won't get a table (or you could book, but that means being organised, which we are not on holiday!), but when it gets busy, it is buzzing. Everybody is friendly from the little children running up and down to the little old lady who seems to come out every night from the house beside the kitchen and wanders up into the other part of the square, hanging onto the wall or tables as she goes. She always said something and smiled. Even though we speak hardly any greek and she didn't appear to speak english, a quick kalispera was all that was needed!
The clientele is mainly greek, and the food selection is also greek, with an open barbecue cooking whole chickens, souvlaki, and other pieces of meat. The portions are huge, but the prices are very reasonable, and the barrel wine is very acceptable (especially the white, which is really good on this island).
In summary, go for the food and the atmosphere; don't worry if the table wobbles, or you have to wait a while. 'People-watch' and enjoy a great evening out, then head back down the hill in the dark - it adds to the fun if you don't take a torch!
