As other rewievers poinet out - the hotel is only 5 min from the airport and appx 15 km from downtown.
I spent two nights during the conference and for that purpose this is a right venue (congress participants have nowhere to go). I was told that taxi is cca. 15-20 EUR one way to down-town, so I took the bus from the "Ikea" bus station - opposite to the huge new heart hospital and 5 min walking from hotel - (nr. 2 ,3 ,or 8), which costs 2 EUR for 24 hrs or 0,60 EUR one way (at least I understood so) . Hotel itself is probably more nice to visit during summer season, when the pool scene is alive. In november it was a boresome place. The view from may room (419) was on parking and some caravan depot - quite depressive look.

I stayed two days at Hotel Nikopolis in connection with a conference nearby. I chose the hotel because it was conveniently located between airport and conference venue.
The hotel boasts five stars has an air of noveau-riche luxury and snotty staff, and this is reflected in the prices. The breakfast has everything for everyone and was above standard, but still 18 EUR for breakfast is quite a bit over the top, and what's worse, there is really no alternative, as the hotel is located in the middle of nowhere in an industrial/megastore/highway city planning mess, so you can't just take your breakfast in a café nearby. WiFi is also not free, and if you want to use the fitness facilities, you have to take up membership in a very expensive health club. So this hotel seems to be targeting wealthy people in for a rip-off!
The location is really the downside here. For me it was convenient, but if you want to go to the city centre, it is (depending on time of day) 20-40 minutes by taxi.

  • Liked — The view of the pool
  • Disliked — The location in industrial/megastore wasteland

As pointed out by other reviewers, the location is the only weak spot of this hotel. However, bare in mind that taxi are ridiculously inexpensive in Greece and therefore getting downtown is not a problem.
For the rest, the hotel is a true 5-star, deserving each one of them.
I had a very good stay and the value-for-money ratio is one of the best I have ever experienced.
I definitely recommend it.

I visited Hotel Nikopolis for business reasons. I stayed in the second floor of the hotel, room 21..The hotel is located near the airports and big malls, away from city center. You need approximately 3o minutes by car to go to the center. Excellent and clean room, big bed. They cleaned the room twice a day.
It has an italian restaurant with good food, not too expensive. It has live italian music during dinner. All employees from the receptionist to the cleaning lady were very helpful...it's really a 5*star hotel. They even brought me newspapers from city center! It has a BIG swimming pool, so in case you visit this hotel during summer don't forget to bring your swimming suit.
