Stayed at Le Palace last week at the start of a (Greek) Easter trip around northern Greece. The premise being we just needed a central and good value hotel for the first night as we were arriving into Thessaloniki in the evening.
It started very well as the bus from the airport (ridiculously cheap at €0.80) drops you literally at the door!! Staff friendly and helpful. Room fine. Probably won't win any awards for size and cutting edge style but was clean and more than functional. Good sized bathroom with perfectly working shower.
It's a couple of blocks from the seafront and there are a gaggle of decent bars and restaurants crammed into the streets two blocks west so we didn't have to trek far for a drink, dinner and a stroll on the prom!
Bed comfy - it had a "Coco-Mat" top mattress, sort of additional padding, I presume derived from coconut in some way, that seems to be all the rage around Greece at the moment - obviously Coco-Mat have a very good sales person.
Breakfast went on to a civilised 10:30am which is a bonus for slow risers like us. Buffet was good with all the usual food stuffs represented although actual orange juice seems to be a stumbling block generally in Greek hotels - it's usually a sort of cross between Orangina and SunQuick. Odd given the climate and proliferation of oranges/orange trees in the street!
In are room facing the main street, there was a bit of traffic noise (despite the double glazing) but nothing to disturb our slumbers.
And that was all we were really looking for in Le Palace. A central hotel at a (very) reasonable price that was clean and served breakfast. Ticks in all the boxes. If you're looking for luxury, style, elegance or something chi-chi, then maybe pay more and go for a more swanky hotel. For us, Le Palace fitted the bill just great.
