“Inexpensive and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

Great location near Aristotle Square, easy walk to churches, museums and the main shopping area. Room and bathroom were small, but clean and comfortable. Very old elevator, but serviceable. Looked like the sort of place that could be haunted. Rooms were well insulated against noise. Free wi-fi was slow but reliable. Staff was very helpful and friendly, happy to discuss sightseeing or Greek politics. Breakfast was a Continental buffet; everything was fresh. We seemed to be two of the very Americans there. We would stay here again.

The hotel is very central- seconds walk away from Aristotelous Square (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aristotelous_Square)

It was built in the 1920s and has all the charm of a French seaside hotel- big airy rooms. And they're clean. Yes the newly built in showers/toilets cramp the room a little- but so what? That's better than sharing:)

The breakfast room is a serene, sunny room- in fact, it was eating breakfast there that I felt most in an Agatha Christie movie.

The staff at reception were more that helpful- they were well informed. In fact the guy at reception knew more about transport to Istanbul than the three separate travel agencies I visited.

Thessaloniki itself is a very interesting city, bursting with history. If you're on a budget, this hotel is an excellent choice.

Great location right next to Aristotelous Square and a few minutes walk to the sea and major sites. The breakfast was good. The staff were very helpful and polite but the building is very old. The room we had was spacious but there was a terrible smell coming from the bathroom. We had to close the bathroom door so the smell wouldnt come into the room. The room was very clean as was the bathroom. The bathroom is very small as well and I had trouble getting into the shower recess as there is only a small opening. Lovely high ceilings in the room with a reasonable sized flat screen TV. On saying all of this, if you want a great location, cheap priced room then this is a good place for you. I would not stay in the hotel again as the smell in the bathroom was bad but I know this is a problem for a lot of hotels in the area.

Room Tip: The higher up the better.

Great location - just in the heart of the city, few steps from the square and the sea. Rooms very small - double one was in the size of the single one. Tiny bathroom and very old furniture. Clean but noisy thanks to the location on the busy (especially during the evenings) street. Good price but would not stay here again.

+++ Great location right next to Aristotelous sq & 1 block away from the beach
Clean hotel
Adequate breakfast

- - - Extremely old building with very old rooms. This creates many problems like:
1)very small room, with very small double bed (it definitely wouldn't fit a person >1.90m)
2) the room door is extremely old, very short (it doesn't reach the floor, so anyone can hear what you say even if you whisper)
3) dirty walls with color coming out
4) new bathroom but it is extremely small (a big person can not fit the door to enter it, same for the shower)
5) no hairdryer (you have to ask for one in the reception & if you forget to bring it down to reception they oblige you to go up & bring it!!)
6) badly sound-proofed windows (Mitropoleos is a very busy street even at night & you can hear motors passing by)
7) completely irrelevant decoration with do it yourself furniture (at least they were new)

Small hotel in an excellent location. Helpful staff and nice, clean rooms. Very reasonable price. Only thing I missed a little bit, was a restaurant during all day. Anyway, breakfast (included in a price of acomodation) was very good.
