“Nice hotel great staff great price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago via mobile

Stayed there for six nights, nice size rooms very comfortable and the food was great! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly! They speak perfect english and went above and beyond with helping us with trip ideas and planning our itinerary. We had some wifi issues but they fixed it each time.Great proximity to the boardwalk, attractions, movie theater, shopping, and night life. Recommended for couples and families

I was totally unimpressed with this hotel. From the outside it looks great; it is located in an area which is in close proximity to the sites of Thessaloniki and it is quite pleasing to the eye but I am afraid inside the hotel left a lot to be desired. There was a significant delay in checking in as there was only 1 person staffing the reception desk at the time I entered with my friends and colleagues. I was given a standard room on the 3rd floor (room 315) adjacent to the house keeping area which you can imagine was incredibly noisy after the cleaners started work at around 07:00. The only view that I had was of the building next door and given this, the room had very little natural light coming in. I don't mind sleeping on a firm bed but please ensure that the sheets and the quilts (for the American English readers out there - duvets) are of reasonably good quality; having bed linen that felt and sounded like plastic made for not the most comfortable nights sleep.

My biggest gripe however was with the shower; I have never in all my years travelling been in a shower so small. It was nigh impossible to move around without having the shower curtain stick to you and the water from the shower flowing onto the bathroom floor. Speaking of the bathroom, the usual array of miniature products that are normally on offer in most hotels such as shampoo/conditioner, soaps etc were not available at this hotel. All they had were two dispensers with what should have presumably contained liquid soap; one dispenser did not have anything inside it and the other one was broken.

Breakfast was poor to average with very little fresh fruit and hot food on offer. The male member of staff on duty all I will say requires some diversity training and/or awareness.

The only reason that this hotel received 2 stars is because the receptionists were very friendly and helpful when I sought directions to the Catholic church of the Immaculate Conception and a local supermarket.

The standard room on the 4th floor (room 419) was quiet because it faces inwards. There is no view because you're looking at another building. The bed was comfortable. Room was spotlessly clean. Reasonable breakfast was included in the price - surprising lack of fresh fruit. Stayed in March when opening the window was the best form of air conditioning.

Room Tip: The hotel faces a busy road, one of the main thoroughfares in Thessaloniki. Quiet rooms are inward f...

Our rooms were a reasonable size and clean but the bathrooms were small. We only stayed 1 night and didn't have breakfast. The location was good for the port and only a few minutes walk from the centre. The wifi didn't work.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors are quieter

Hotel Astoria is on very good location near Ladadika with many restaurants and on a few minutes walking distance to the city center, Wi fi is very good with excellent coverage. Staff very polite and helpful. Very close to the hotel there is a parking.
