“Relaxing, Convenient location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

Stayed here in June while attending a conference in Thessaloniki. Thessaloniki is a city with a vibrant and colorful past, and it seems relatively undiscovered by tourists. The Excelsior is situated just off the main plaza in a very convenient location. Wonderful breakfast on rooftop enclosed terrace. Staff very friendly and fluent in English. Room a bit on the small size, but very comfortable and opened out onto the street below. All in all a relaxing boutique hotel in the heart of Thessaloniki. Would definitely stay there again.

Elegant and comfortable small luxury hotel in a recently renovated historical building near Aristotelou. Nice rooms with Nespresso machine and complimentary coffee, always an excellent touch. Super attentive, friendly and efficient service, the bistro downstairs is also a great option for lunch or dinner. All this at a great value - probably your best choice if you are going through Thessaloniki.

From the moment you walk into The Excelsior you are made to feel very special - staff and service were outstanding. The hotel itself is very modern, yet keeping up the traditional architecture; the rooms were large, comfortable and extremely tastefully decorated (beds one of the most comfortable w e have slept in). Breakfast was really nice; served on the roof terrace.

A complimentary bottle of local wine (very good) and large water (in a glass bottle!) was most welcome and really appreciated.

Ideally located for transport around the city center and and the sights.

One little niggle 2 euros for a capsule of Nespresso! It is not the cost, but the principle seems at odds with everything else the hotel offers.

I had the opportunity to spend a night at this great boutique hotel during a business trip. People there are very professional and really friendly. They are happy to help you. The rooms are very clean and the mattresses are very comfortable. Last but not least their restaurant is great.

First of all, we got the Junior Suite, so my comments about our room is about the -very cheap- junior suite, but, we looked at the single rooms as well and there is not a big difference (except the size). The hotel welcomed us with (free) welcome drinks. We got to our room, there was complimentary food, coffee, water and wine. The bathroom was very clean, the sink, the tub and the toilet was Villeroy&Boch. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The prices were VERY reasonable. If you come to Thessaloniki, I recommend Excelsior Hotel one hundred percent.

We stayed just one night at The Excelsior and found it to be an extremely pleasurable experience. We had a superior double and found it to be adequately spacious, modern, light and airy. The hotel is literally around the corner from the main square in the city and within a couple of minutes walk from numerous great restaurants. The only thing we found disappointing was the roof terrace which actually didn't have any open area, it was just the room on top of the building where breakfast was served. It was a great breakfast room, breakfast was tasty, plentiful. I would not hesitate to return to the excelsior.

Room Tip: The superior doubles are a good size, considering some of the other review it might be worth upgradi...

What a beautiful hotel located in the heart of the city! You are within walking distance to everything! We only stayed 2 nights, however would have loved to stay more! On arrival we got upgraded to a nicer room which was absolutely beautiful & clean! They even provided a complimentary bottle of wine & nibbles. The service at this hotel is impeccable - nothing was any trouble for them - even me wanting to get my nails painted at 8pm at night - they found someone & booked me in (l needed shellac). I highly recommend this hotel & will stay here again when l go back to Thessaloniki.
