“Great location but ..”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

The hotel is situated at a great location down town. The hotel employees were very friendly but the hotel is truly one star. No elevator, breakfast in a small room that overlooks, behind the curtains, the trash area of the hotel. I felt the price was ok and based on other people's ratings i trusted to stay there. The room i had was fairly small with clean bed sheets and that's all l can say. Maybe my expectations were too high for a one star hotel.....

First of all I have to say that the staff of the hotel was great. All of them were very helpful and really nice.
The room on the other hand was a disaster.
It seems to be an old storage room that has been changed into a guest room. I must say that I only paid 22€ per night, therefore I cannot expect much. The pictures on hostelworld and the ratings however were really promising and I thought I made a great deal. If I had known before what the room looks like I would have paid more for a better room. The other rooms in the hotel seem to be much nicer.
The room has a sink that was not working, the window handle is loose, so it is not possible to shut the window properly, the furniture was old and dirty. Worst of all, the sheets were dirty and had holes in them. Even for 22€ I can expect clean sheets.
The shared bathroom was clean but overall in a bad condition. Everything in the room and bathroom seemed to be very old and worn out.
The Wifi did not work very well in the room, the connection was often lost. In the common areas it was much better.
It was also very noisy in the room. There was constant noise, probably from a ventilation system, you could hear everything from the common bathroom and every door closing.
The location of the hotel is good, everything in walking distance.
I cannot recommend to book the single room with the shared bathroom.

Very nice and helpful reception, who advised us for our further trip and had a little sheet with bus schedules ready the next mornibg to where we wanted to go. We've also been called on our way to the hotel as we arrived quite late, veing asked if we needed help to get there or someone to pick us up. The restaurant recommendation for the late evening was also marvelous. Next time we get to thessaloniki, we'll check in with hotel atlantis, where the receptionist speaks such a good english and german and is very nice and knows what people want in thessaloniki. Perfect, especially for its very very reasonable pricing. Total recommend!

A simple well located hotel that offers basic accommodations with very affordable rates in the heart of the city. Very nice front desk staff at any time of day...eager to please. Very convenient to many touristic sights in Thessaloniki with bus stop at the door

Room Tip: On a busy street with construction...better to request ones in the back

Very friendly staff who are willing to help you in any way they can.

In walking distance of all main touristic sites.

The breakfast is ok with a variety of choice.

Good value for money hotel.

Public transportation close to the hotel, which also has the implication that the hotel is situated at a busy road, in the hotel however it is quiet. (Our room was on the other side)

If you would be coming here with a baby, make sure to let them know in advance since they'll book the biggest rooms for you with a baby-bed.

We spent here 6 days and everything was excellent. The location of the hotel is very good(the sea, cafes, restaurants and tourist sites are at a walking distance.Ladadika is at 5 minutes walk from the hotel. and he people at the reception are wonderful, helpful. The room was clean, and looked at the yard on the back of the hotel,so there was no noise. A little bit small but ok.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

I got here as part of a journey by bicycle in 2013 and the first night (had to take one with shared bathroom first night) I got a room that was the worst of my entire trip and that's counting small towns in Albania, Macedonia and Greece.

It had cracks in the paint on the walls, a view to a shabby backyard, a sink with a leaking faucet, bad lighting and dirty in the cracks and corners of the room. The bed itself was ok but it all other senses it was like a jail cell.

The day after I got a room with a bathroom, however, it smelled of paint thinner and was facing a major street with curtains that couldn't block out the light because they were transparent. The door into the room was very worn and had really seen better days, the bathroom had cracks and mold in areas and the carpet looked like something that's been lying on the sidewalk outside for a year. On their wrebsite it said the room had a tv and a fridge and while my first room had a tv my second room had neither and they charged me one euro more per night than the priced stated on their website. When I mentioned that the tv was lacking they said it was problems with the antenna and while that might be true I saw people giving and leaving remote controls to the other rooms. I think they should have offered a better price for the stay, 33 euros per night with breakfast, since they gave false information regarding room standard. But they didn't.

The good things, and there were good things, was mostly the staff, a very friendly guy called Kostas I think, made the stay alot better just due to his mood and willingness to be helpful and give advice.

Also, the breakfast was very good, the best of my trip with several choices of things to eat all of them good.

But in the end, those two things doesn't make up for the experience as a whole, that it was a really aged hotel with little to no signs of renovation despite what their website says.
