This was a great little hostel hidden in the upper part of Thessaloniki. We booked a private room with my boyfriend on two different occasions.
Pros: Really huge air conditioned rooms (note: for non private rooms airconditioning is charged a few bucks extra), with faciities like a private kitchen and a lot of cutlery for cheap (19 euros per person). Very nice view of the city - the old town and the sea and port at a distance. It was especially nice to watch sunrise and sunset from there. The location is very nice and quiet - tons of cats, some old-timey buildings, stone streets, ruins etc if you are into this kind of stuff. It is pretty close to Aristotelous square too, though there are other hostels that are more central Also, the staff was nice and helpful - for instance, I forgot my glasses on my first stay and they kept them for me. There is also the opportunity to socialize with other people in the garden.
Cons: It does require some uphill walking, which with luggage is tiring, but we did it the first time. Well, the second we took a cab from the city (3 euros),so it is really a minor thing. Another minor thing is that the bathroom did not have lights installed. Also, although this was not an issue for us, it is located in somewhat of a gypsy neighborhood.
Overall, I would totally recommend it, just do yourself a favor and take a cab - cabbies now have gps devices so you can just tell them the address.
