5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2010

This was the third time in 8 years that we stayed in this hotel, taking an exchange from our timeshare. The resort is on the beach of Elani near the village of Siviri on the first leg of the Halkidiki penisnula, which is named Kassandra. It has a distance of about 90 km far from the city of Thessaloniki. It 's a 4 star resort. Elani is an area with expensive summer houses, situated in a wonerful pinewood forest. The forest reaches the sea. In the forest there are boxes for bees (as there is honey production there) and some people may find the bees annoying. Simply don 't touch the bees when they come to you!The Elani Bay Resort is crowned by this forest and it has buildings with three floors, the first of them entombed in the ground, all with nice verandas. The buildings don 't insult the natural environment. We had an appartment with two bedrooms. It was fully equipped with a kitchen and kitchen utensils, it had 2 TVs and a nice living room. The bathroom was big, but there weren 't enough hangers for the towels. The ground appartments have a moisture problem, because the half of them is entombed, so they are not suitable for people who have asthma or such illnesses. In the night it was very quiet and you had the smell of the pinewood in your nose. The forest cools also the atmosphere, especially in the night. The resort has a sauna and an indoor pool, but they are not in use since years. If you want to play tennis or basket ball, there are play grounds in a distance of about 300-400 m. The sea is very good and the beach also (sandy). It 's amazing to see all these trees from the sea as you swim. There is a problem with the sea when the wind is from the south (it makes the water dirty), but we were lucky to have very clear waters with excellent visibility, seeing the fish surrounding us! There are also 3 swimming pools, a big one with a bridge and waterfalls, a smaller one and a tiny for little kids. The hotel has a large bar with expensive prices and it has put a lot of umbrellas on the beach, which cost 10 Euros each per day, with 2 sunbeds and including 2 coffees or refreshments in this price. The bad thing is that they charge this price also to the hotel guests... But if you have an umbrella, there is plenty of space to put it on the beach and don 't pay anything. The resort has aslo a taverna, which is expensive and I don 't suggest it. Breakfast there costs 12 Euros per person. You better go to Siviri, the village in a distance of 4 km, where there are supermarkets and bakeries and you get your provisions for breakfast. Siviri has a lot of tavernas (I suggest Porto Nikos and avoid Diamantis, which is awfully crowdy and don 't believe that you can find fresh fish with so many people served), but you can take your chance to buy directly from fishermen fresh fish from the boat. I was lucky to buy fresh swordfish directly from the boat with 15 Euros per kilo. Food in the area (Siviri, Fourka, Skioni, Kallithea) is quite expensive. If you pay 195 Euros per night in the resort (this was the price for our appartment in high season, which I didn 't pay because of the timesharing), I think you are not going to search for cheap food, but that 's my aspect. In general the area is expensive. The whole Kassandra is nice so as to make excursions to places such as Sani, Nea Skioni, Paliouri, and is full of fantastic beaches. If you like walking on the mountains, you can go to the area of Kassandrino (but don 't eat there at the tavernas, as they are cheating you...). The area of Elani and generally the west part of Kassandra is "quiet". If you want night life, then you have to go to Kallithea, 10 km away, where you can find bars, nitght clubs etc. All in all Elani Bay Resort is a nice place to relax in the summer and as the title says, it has the forest as the gift of nature.

Very expensive hotel for what it offers to customers.

disadvantages:
1. Very bad breakfast. The worst I've ever tasted in a hotel of this class. There was νο juice, very poor quality food items (yellow cheese, sausage, coffee, etc.). Small variety.
2. Ten euro charge for umbrellas and sun beds, just as for outside visitors. It should be free and charge only when ordering drinks or refreshments.
3. Nine euros charge for six hours online wifi internet ???? Incredible shoplifting. They should be shamed for that.
4. Τennis court, basketball, playground, table tennis, sauna etc. still searching to find them ... Where are they? But their web site says that they exists!!! shame
5. Restaurant and breakfast 200m away from rooms on uphill.
6. Sea bellow average Chalkidiki's seas.

advantages:
1. Kind stuff
2. Daily cleaning

Please stay away from this hotel. You can easily find much better from that.
