I have just come back from a week at the Venus. I booked it because of the TripAdvisor comments. Book direct with Nick the owner - it is so easy and much cheaper. As a direct customer you get free airconditioning, fridge and safety deposit box. You also get 10% of everything you buy in the hotel. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and paid a little extra for the room - it was decorated well and so clean and tidy. All rooms have a balcony and the hotel is well placed for the 'Turtle' Beach a short stroll away and the main strip of tavernas, shops and bars. Nick the hotel owner picks you up from the airport and drops you back off again. It is only 5 minutes from the airport and you will not notice the planes. The food served in the Venus Cafe is fantastic and such an array and a very good price. The cocktails are great at 3 euros each too. We had such a relaxing holiday sitting around the pool, by the beach and we hired a car to see the island. We found a boat trip on our travels in our hire car to see the BLUE CAVES - it was only 10 euros each and we had a great time on the boat. Better than paying the holiday companies 30 euros for the same thing. Our boat was small so we could actually get right into the caves. The holiday companies boats are too big to get anywhere close. The whole island was so clean. Our hotel was mainly couples but there were young families there too and all the children were enjoying themselves in the pool but were certainly not a nuisance. There was entertainment at the hotel on some nights and it was nice that the owner Nick does not push this - the quiz night was free and for fun and the Greek Night was a resounding success. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing, stress free holiday.

We stayed Venus Hotel in Kalamaki Zakynthos for one week in May 2008, Nick the owner and his staff were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them.

The facilities are fantastic throughout as was the cleanliness absolutely spotless.

Breakfast service was excellent with a varied choice to suit all needs.

The pool area is well laid out with plenty of room for sun bathing and relaxing.

A superb hotel in a good location

Just came back from a weeks stay at Hotel Venus. We had a absolutely fantastic time. This is our fifth stay at the hotel and plan to return later this year.

This hotel has all round entertainment from the young to the old, from singles to couples!

The staff are superb and we could not wish for a better holiday. The facilities are in excellent condition and we had a fantastic time.

My husband and I have visited this hotel for the past two years each time in May. We have booked both direct and via local travel agent.
This was the first hotel we had booked abroad for a number of years as we had in past preferred to stay in self catering accomodation via vintage travel uk., and our first visit to Greece. We were both very pleasantly surprised at the standard of this hotel and have enjoyed our visits so much we are returning for our third visit this time with other older members of our family.
We find the venus hotel good standard accommodation which is relaxing and friendly. There are good places to eat nearby. With a lovely beach to stroll along, and if your lucky catch a glimpse of the turtles (a truly amazing sight).
Kalamaki airport however is an experience to be had, hopefully for not more than a couple of hours. ( you can always laugh about it later)! but would never put us off visiting this island.
