“Away from the crowds!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2008

Booked with Olympic holidays, my friend and I went for a week at the end of September. We had a large clean room - better standard than most greek apartments we have stayed in. Toaster, kettle, a couple of pans and various dishes.

The hotel is about a mile away from Messonghi resort so it is a bit of a walk of an evening to go and get food.

The hotel next door did play loud music early evening a couple of nights but the pool area of the Kerkyra Island apartments were very quiet and relaxing... although there were a few wasps about.

The food is cheap and cheerful english style food - we went out for food every night (but probably would have done most nights anyway).

If you are after a quieter holiday this is good. We didn't have a car and were given a couple of lifts to places by other guests.

If you are young and after lively nights out this is probably a bit too far away from the action.

Just back from two weeks staying in Kerkyra Island Studio Apartments in Messonghi, our stay was marred by the noise that mainly came from the hotel next door the Loullas Village. This excess noise is the most we have ever encountered in many years of traveling to all parts of Europe, why do hotels turn the music and even worse the dreaded karaoke sound up at 1.30 of the morning ,this happened on at least 4 occasions, plus other nights with loud music. Some rooms that only face in land are not as effected by this as the ones with the best views.
Our room in the Kerkyra Island was large and well equipped including toaster and kettle but no air con ( some rooms do have air con but not all ) but hand towels not provided unless you ask for them and only changed three times in 2 week plus no tea towels at all.
Swimming pool area is also nice but most people got stung by the many wasps and all guests get bitten by the mossies so make sure you have loads of bite creams.
Weather in early September was a lot hotter than we were expecting and this made the 15 Min's walk to the beach a lot harder to do every day but at least you did not get the wasps so much on the beach, water is good quality and safe to swim/paddle in.
Well worth a walk up to Chlomas village and please call in to one of the tavernas for a cooling drink as the views cover both coasts are well worth looking at.
In the area around the hotel are 3 good eating places, the average price for a meal for 2 with a starter and wine came to about 30 Euros.
We will not be going back to this hotel as we like to sleep and not listen to music at 4 in the morning.

Iwould disagree about most of this review. I have been going back to this place since it was first built around 1995. The new apartments that were built last year and the ones refurbished this year are I would say among the best in the area. Some have a bath and a shower. You can see pictures of the accommodation on the web site for those of you who would like to check it out. Yes you have a 10 minute walk into the village but its going past a beautiful bay and amazing sunsets as you walk down to the village in the evening. Its ideal for couples or singles (I am a single) who are not afraid of walking or a bit of quiet. I have made many friends through coming here on my own. When I go home I feel I have been on holiday for a month. It is so relaxing. Wonderful local tavernas right beside the apartments. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners. They make you very welcome.

Just returned from Corfu, first time there, won't be returning. Just spent two weeks in Corfu at the Kerkyra Island Hotel in Messonghi. The owners were very friendly and the apartments although a bit dated were okay, but if you don't drive then don't bother. The apartments had a lovely pool, but the insects were horrendous, we had mosquitoes by the hundreds, wasps, flies and bees the size of helicopters! To get out and about you either had to go on excursions or book a taxi. To get from the supermarket to the apartments you had to go fifteen minutes down a road with no pavements but lots of traffic and very badly lit in the evening. Although we got the rest we went for we did not get out much as we don't drive abroad and would have had to spend on taxis every evening. The buses are not reliable either.
