“friendly, relaxing, lovely room.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

my first time in Corfu, though my husband visited 27 years ago. We were not disappointed. The Stamatis apartments are very spacious, we paid extra for a studio that sleeps 3, after reading other reviews. Our room was huge, clean, facilities good, (kettle, toaster, fridge, two cooking rings and a small oven/grill). Maid service 6 days a week, very clean. The pool area is lovely, water not too cold either. The owner Tom was very welcoming to everyone, and so were Maria (what a lovely lady), and Alissio (probably misspelt), also charming and friendly. They serve good value food and drinks from the pool bar, also plenty room to sit inside if too hot, or also at front of hotel, good for people watching. Thomson only book adults, though it is a free pool, so you do get some children, but not to the extent of children focussed resorts.
Brilliant location, plenty restaurants and bars on your doorstep, and a very short walk to a lovely beach. The restaurants are all fairly similar, but most are friendly. Had a meal at Mediterranean village, great service until we asked for the set menu, (9euro each), then the friendliness disappeared. All the other restaurants we visited were lovely. Particularly liked Tasty Corner, proper Greek grill/gyros restaurant, and a lovely waiter.
Overall, I would recommend San Stefanos for a laid back holiday, and would highly recommend Stamatis apartments, and we will be returning next year.

Room Tip: All rooms have good view. We booked larger studio, as we had 2 weeks, so more stuff, worth the money...

Had a wonderful week in Corfu at Stamatis. Our first time in Greece and Corfu. We stayed in a two bed apartment even though there were two of us. Very basic as I believe things are in greece but immaculately clean. Great pool area always loads of sun beds available and cold beer from the lovely Maria. Really close to beach and taverna's - would highly recommend.

Room Tip: All rooms overlook the pool

I wish I had read the Tripadvisors reviews of this property before booking, I would have ensured we had one of the larger apartments, as described in other reviews.
I am disabled with mobility problems, all as described to Thompsons, when booking, in addition we have visited greece for the past 30 years and are used to the basic facilities provided in lots of accomodation but none as basic as this.
However when we arrived at the apartment aided by toms nephew, we were very disappointed to be confronted by the 9 access steps which were falling away (yes falling) from the main block (photos available) Inside the tiny apartment the shower room was dangerous due to the curtain being 450mm (18 0")above the base, when using shower the floor became flooded and slippery we did not use it, as the floor had to be mopped up every time it was used.
We asked Tom who was very polite and friendly to move us, but he was unable to help as he said apartments were allocated by Thompson (he did place blankets under mattress to help us to try and sleep as beds very uncomfortable) apartments very clean but a little smelly.
San Stafanos was a delight, very compact, all bars, Taverners etc in easy reach and inexpensive, every one extremly friendly. Would visit resort again but would not stay at Stamatis.

Room Tip: Ensure you avoid rooms 5 and 6 rooms 9 and 10 described and cost the same but were much larger

We were greeted by Tam the owner who is very friendly and made us feel so welcome as do all the staff. A naturally warm and attentive service was provided throughout our stay which we very much appreciated.
Our studio was huge ( larger size sleeps 3) and was spotlessly clean, well equiped and had a large balcony with wonderful view towards the sea where we could enjoy the sunset - perfect.
There is a large pool area with plenty of sunbeds and shades even in high season. Thomson advertise as "adult orientated" apartments but in August there were quite alot of kids at the pool as it is open to the public. Not a problem for us but worth noting if you are seeking tranquillity ! Probably much quieter outwith the school holiday period.
The bar snacks and breakfasts were excellent quality and value for money.
In general there is a friendly and relaxed atmosphere at the Stamatis and a high number of repeat British guests which speaks volumes. We will definately be returning at some point in the future.
Location of the apartments is ideal, tavernas, supermarket on your doorstep and a couple of mins walk to the beach through the Athina hotel grounds.
Nightlife in San Stefanos is low key but there are a handful of livlier spots if you like - Condor bar has regular karaoke, music acts and DJ til the wee small hours. Athens bar directly across from Stamatis has excellent acoustic guitar player who plays your requests once a week I think.
Plenty of restaurants to choose from but none that particularly stand out as they mostly offer similar menus. Our meal at the Barras restaurant was good and the staff were lovely. if you don't want a "proper meal" then I would recommend going to the grill owned by Yiannis right next door to Stamatis. They serve Gyros - stuffed pita bread with choice of meat, salad , tsatziki and chips - yum!!!!
To sum up we had a wonderful chilled out holiday, we thought San Stefanos was charming and had lovely scenery and would highly recommend the Stamatis apts.

Room Tip: Studio number 11 highly recommended high floor larger size with great view!

Arrived about 9.30pm and was met by the man who runs the bar at night who took one of our bags to the room for us. He explained the air con and left us to un pack. We had one of the ground floor studio apartments and the patio doors opened out on to a small patio that led to the pool. The bedroom was small with 2 single beds but we moved the bedside table that was in the middle and pushed the beds together. There was a wardrobe and a dressing table and it was fine for what we needed. There was also a seperate kitchen area with a fridge and a small cooker type thing with a 2 ring hob plus a toaster and kettle. After a quick wash we went out for something to eat and went to Zorba's 2 minutes away. Good food and good entertainment. 9 euro for a starter main and dessert. 2 euro for a big bottle of water. Quick stop at the Apna supermarket to buy water and some stuff on the way back then picked up the air con controller. 5 euro's a day. Well worth it. I had to put a blanket on overnight as hubby had it on so cold.
Breakfast is available if you want it in the bar area and they also do lunches too. I had a sandwich one day which was lovely. Free wifi in the bar too.
Overall a wonderful holiday and I really didn't want to come home. Only downside was the dreaded mossies, so please take plug in mossie stuff for the room and plenty of spray on stuff too.
Can't wait to go back, Especially to my favourite restaurant 2 stars.

Just back from two weeks in the Stamatis and I cant wait to go back next year. Rooms are basic but a lot better than anywhere else I've been in Corfu. Tom the owner is a delight, nothing was any bother for him. Bar food is great and very reasonable priced, pool is one of the cleanest and best kept I've seen in Corfu.
Apartments are on the doorstep to the whole Main Street and its bars, tavernas and eateries. Five minutes from the beautiful beach and you can use every other hotels pool too.
The rooms were cleaned every day and the Lady was so nice and friendly.
A great supermarket is straight accross the pavement and again, the friendliness of the owners was second to none.
I would give the whole area 100% of greatness.

We spent a week at Stamatis in May this year. Accommodation was spot on for what we wanted. We had cheekily asked for a double bed (not expecting one as Greece doesn't usually do double beds) but were pleasantly surprised to see that they had gone to the trouble of pushing two single beds together and put rolled up blanket down the middle for comfort! The staff there were wonderful and we always had breakfast there which was excellent and reasonably priced. We would definitely go back there again. Can recommned Zorbas for evening meals and entertainment. Greek dancing supplied by the waiters every evening. In all an easy resort to get around on foot - no need to hire a car.

Room Tip: Think we had Room 3 - second floor which has private balcony and nice views.
