“back breaking hill”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2009

recently returned from Liberatos appt,we were told before we went there was a slight hill to get to Liberatosl!!!!!!i live in wales and am used to hills but this was back breaking in the heat and NOT SLIGHT.liberatos Appt are very basic as expected, cleaning is not up to much.very basic in crockery&cutlery as a few of us found out they do not supply tin openers either. The on site shop is expensive.only entertainment is on a friday when they have a bbq, which we paid 5euro each but when we were leaviing new notice went up of price rise to 7euro each!!!more entertainment would have been good.
Pool area is good.i would not recommend these appartments to unfit or elderly.

Having looked at the reviews, thought i'd leave my thoughts...
Me and my wife first stayed there in 2002 and thought it was ok,clean but basic apartment, good pool and pool bar.Yes,the supermarket was expensive so shop in the town.We had a great holiday and hired a moped for the week so the ride up the steep hill was a blast, killer walking though.
We went again last year(2008) and stayed in the apartment block furthest away from the pool and it was clean with a great view.We found the poolside bar very expensive, must have been something to do with the pound versus the euro(£1=60c in 2002)
Suprised to see all the negative views ref the cleanliness. We loved Kefalonia and we were happy with Liberatos.Yes we'd stay there again.

Just spent a week in Liberatos Village.having travelled abroad for 30 years honest opinion.
Rooms.
Cleaned once during our stay including sheets, maybe not quite good enough.Air conditioning big rip off at 50 euros per week.
Pool area
Great, pool kept very clean, always plenty of sun beds available.Bar prices no more expensive than any of the bars in Lassi.Supermarket is very expensive,1 bottle of water £1.50 euros could buy 6 for that in lassi
The infamous hill is a problem especially in the sun and even more so if you walk from the beach which is well below the main Lassi road. However we walked up most nights and it was ok [and we both smoke]be careful walking down, one lady slipped and broke her leg while we were there.
Restaurants in Lassi were all ok,a bit pricey but exchange rate is rubbish at the moment. If you get a bit bored with Greek food there is a fantastic Indian in Argostoli!!
Thought Argostoli was fantastic at night, very pricey but great.
We understand from reading previous reviews that the hotel staff were a problem, can i just say i found this totally untrue, they wer very friendly and very approachable.
Finally we would not hesitate in returning to the liberatos village, yes Cepallonia is a bit more expensive than most Greek islands but the natural beauty of the place is more than worth it.Do hire a car and enjoy.

what a shame 8-(
after booking last minute we decided to take a look at what we'd paid for. we were quite horrified by the reviews but thought perhaps people only comment on the bad, not the good.
we arrived and the setting is truely amazing. contrary to reports the comunal areas and pool were immacute but the appartment (d4) was filthy. there was toothpaste up the mirrors and in the basin, the floor was grim and i pointblank refused to look in the loo! the beds were unmade tho clean towels and bedding were on the foot of the beds. more hair and "stuff" covered the floors. i headed off to ask calmly if the room had been cleaned tho i really just wanted to rage that tripadvisor was right!
anyhow, we did nt unpack but went for a run in the car for an hour. on return things were better but not great, funnily enough their shop stocks lots of cleaning stuff!!!
they seem completely aware of whats being said about the place . . . . so why not "clean up their act?"
i ve been to many greek islands in the past and know what greek standards are, but this is nt it!
apart from the dirty appartments the rest of the place is a quiet haven with great views. we walked the hill in 7 mins but it is steep, but hell its worth it for the views you get!
take my advice, if you ve booked, dont worry, enjoy it for a 2 star rated place that it is but if you re sqeamish about other peoples dirt and mess either kick up til its spick and span or visit that shop for cleaning essentials, you sure as hell wont bump into the cleaners in there!!!

On our way to Liberatos village the only thing our rep told us was about the fantastic views, when we arrived we knew the reason why. After telling us where our studio flat was he dissapeared. Inside everything was very dissapointing, from the wardrobe which would not open if the drawers were open underneath to the dirty crockery and cutlery left in the cupboards. Our first stop was to walk down the steep hill to the local supermarket to buy cleaning products so we could clean our room before we unpacked.
The pool area is very nice and spotless and the bar area is great for a drink if you dont want to face the big walk.
If you want to go on any excursions book them when you go into Lassi, they are cheaper than the reps in the hotel and you get more for your money.
Staying at the Liberatos did not spoil my holiday, however i would not reccomend it to others

We have just returned from Liberatos Village, first thoughts were spacious apartment and lovely pool, views to die for, plenty of sun beds and very quiet and relaxing, untill you went down the hill. This is very steep and the taxi was a godsend if a bit overpriced! Only down side was the cleaning and changing of linen, I had to request change of linen twice in two weeks, they were very slow to clean and I think if I didn't request this on the day after they should have done it, it would not have been done at all. George is tight and seem to want his staff to keep the gardens and pool area serviced at the cost of the guests rooms. Be wary of him! The prices in the shop were very high compared to the town, but that is to be expeted at on site stores, especially when they are as remote from the town as this place. Beware the hill one lady staying at the same time as us slipped on the steep hill down and broke her leg. Go to Mystic Gusto, the greek music is good but the english trio on Saturday night is dire!

Just returned from a weeks hoilday after staying in the liberatos village. There was 8 of us in our group all ready for a week of soaking up the sun by day and then the food, drink and atmospherer at night. .On first impression we were happy with our choice large clean apartments all with sea views and spread about in beautiful well cared for gardends .The pool area was lovely with always enough sun loungers to go around (but not umbrellas) the pool side food was also very good and ok priced that could'nt be said for the shop on site very over priced but just shop else where.
same said about the air conditioning too expensive (50 euro).
YES the complex was up a steep hill ok to walk DOWN but well worth paying the 5 euro taxi ride UP it, , Shame the owner did'nt provide a shuttle bus UP and DOWN, as by half way through your holiday the getting UP and DOWN the hill becomes annoying so you tend to stay for lunch by the pool when you dont really want too ,as you know you will have the trek to do again later that night. . So you get a kind of feeling your trapped on the complex at times (more about being trapped later in this review)

Once you've got DOWN the hill the beaches(long beach with excellent food at the greek kitchen ) bars (so simple- nice cocktails free shots) restaraunts (ionian, sirtaki;butlers) are all excellent. well our favorites anyway.
Then it happened 5 days into our holiday we heard kosmar had gone bust we laughed at first and shouted we are trapped in kefalonia how lovely and all went off to the beach for the day .On returning to the complex we were asked for 4 of our passports, to sort new flights out so we handed them to the barman. and went DOWN into lassi for the evening.
The next morning our lads went DOWN to watch the footy and the girls lay by the pool then things became uncomfitable other guests were requesting there passports back and being refused
them until they paid for there holiday again .The owner was shouting every one was getting upset , no one knew when there flights were goinging to be announced but half the people had no passport to travel even if the flights were announced WE WERE TRAPPED . The police were called along with a thomas cook rep to try and sort it.
THE FOLLOWING MORNING we were allowed our passport back if you left the complex. We did this even though still unaware of our flight details home ,
Another hotel LASSI took us in.
they too had had the sad news and problems of a company going bust but they handled the problem in a professional way and put the traveler first.
I would return to the resort of lassi and happily stay at the hotel
LASSI in the future.

  • Liked — the look of the complex from outside
