We booked this holiday on the advice of Trip Advisor reviews and I have to say they were very true on how friendly, warm, pleasant the people are (Billy, etc) and particularly how welcoming they make you feel. I have just returned after a two week holiday there and feel so relaxed and rested it is great.

What I do wish to point out is just a few not unpleasantries but facts about Pelagos Bay. The rooms are very, very clean and way above the usual standard but do remain basic. Secondly, if you are a bit more reserved, then walking down in the evening to go out past some mad Greek guy called Yanis Shouting Yammas!!!!! Special!!!!! at the top of his voice can be sometimes a bit much and in your face, even intrusive at times. Finally, the location of the hotel is a good 30 minute walk from anywhere never mind the centre of Scala and whilst pleasant to the eye you do have to be very careful as you are mainly walking on the main road as there are no pavements and I'm sure you have an idea of what Greek driving is like!! I would say when returning at night (after dark) getting a cab is much more sensible option as there is no/minimal street lighting and basically pitch black walk back. (although Billy does have torches available for you to buy!!!)

Anyway, again I want to point out that I really enjoyed my time there, if you do plan to go, HIRE A CAR and pick it up at the airport and keep it until you go home as it will be the best investment you make!!

I hope that this gives a bit more insight into Pelaagos Bay.

On arrival at the quaint Kefalonia International Airport,my partner and I were told by our holiday representative that our accommodation at Tara Beach Hotel had been double booked. As a result we were moved to Pelagos Bay Hotel, and what luck that was!

We wee met by the manager Billy on arrival, and told that it was not a hotel, rather his home and that was the way we were to treat it. He was quick to remember everyone's name and would every day ask you how your day was. As did all the staff to be honest.

The rooms were clean and they are all sea view so there is no such thing as a bad view at the Pelagos. The power lines running along the road are barely noticeable. The rooms are cleaned throughout the week and fresh linen offered 3 times a week. No signs of insects or bugs which is a first on our travels throughout the Med. And above all, a double bed, rather than two singles. Room 18 for those interested!!!!

The pool was clean with many poolside beds and tables that were kept neat and tidy. Pool toys a plenty. Try out Billy's water bike and see if you can make it to the other side of the pool. Yet to be done!!!! Great lunches on offer at the poolside bar, especially the Greek salad! Wonderful!

Not being poolside people we used the pebble beach when not on our travels around the island. Incredible clear water. Plenty of fish life so don't forget your snorkel and mask! Don't forget some rubber shoes for getting into and out of the sea as the pebbles can hurt the soles! Try and make a sunrise as well. Beautiful!

Location is 20min walk into town. Two very good restaurants within 200yds of hotel including the excellent Penelope. Highly recommended. Taxis on demand if not up for walk

The staff? Well! What can I say. They were excellent. Everyone from Billy, himself, to the bar staff, Aspa and Yannis, Barbara, Billy 2, the cleaning staff. Everyone! DON'T miss Billy's weekly BBQ on a Thursday. Wonderful. Great value for money and don't remember to eat light the day before. You'll need as much space in your bellies as you can muster!

Overall, a wonderful holiday. So glad we eventually stayed at the Pelagos Bay. It is deserving of it's high rating here on Trip Advisor. Not a single negative comment about the place.

YAMMAS!

Three young girls wanting a fairly realxing holiday happened to chance upon the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Billy, Barbara and his family made us incredibly welcome, Yiannis (the barman) was always cheeky, lively and full of fun. Billy, the hotel owner, is full of magic tricks, stories and has time for every single guest- sorry FRIEND as he calls them. You are made to feel you are a guest in their home, and we actually cried when we had to leave! We were so amazed with the hospitality we have booked already for 4 months later. The hotel was immaculately clean, the pool was lovely, and Scala is only 20 mins by foot. All the locals know the owners of this hotel, so you are taken care of wherever you go! Nothing is too much trouble for this lovely family. We challenge anyone not to want to return again and again to this strictly unique hotel/ home from home.

we have stayed with billy, barbara and their family since 2001 the opening year of this very warm and friendly hotel,.you are made so welcome. which makes you want to return year after year. we have made many friends, in six years the service has remained the same 1st class.the resort of scala has plently to keep you occupied but with greek flavour, that means no british pubs (hurray).the walk into scala is lovely you can take in the sea breeze and slendid view of this pretty island, but be warned once bitten you will probably want to return time and time again,as we have.so what are you waiting for go and book it see you there. shelly and rob murphy. nuneaton warwickshire.
