“Perfect for us”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

This was our 2nd year running at Kekatos and we had a fabulous time. The apartments are simple & basic but very clean. The maid, despite having limited English, was very helpful and our towels got changed regularly. The kitchen is pretty well equipped but there are only 2 hob rings & a microwave so cooking possibilities are a bit limited. We're not really 'pool people' so can't really comment on that.
Clair, our rep, was also very helpful and did all she could she could to make our holiday as enjoyable as possible. We did the Ithica tour which we would highly recommend despite the 6.30am start! If you do this tour, take swimming costumes as you get the chance to swim off the boat.
Lourdas is a very quiet, peaceful resort with 2 mini markets for all your basics. There are 3 excellent bars - Bar Seven, Sunset (formerly Dimitri's) and Waikiki - all very customer friendly and highly recommended. Didn't try Lovides. Our favourite taverna was Lourdas Mare (Mezedakia). Looks basic, but does the best food in Lourdas & has a lovely waiter and waitress. Try the cheesecake - amazing! Blue Sea is also very good. Not crazy about Climatis, the staff are very unwelcoming & the food is average. Lorraine's Magic Hill is quite popular but we prefer Lourdas Mare.
The beach is a blue flag beach and is very clean. There is a lifeguard & also WC facilities. 2 sunbeds and a sun shade can be hired for 5 euros a day (or part of a day).
Overall, a smashing place to stay if you want somewhere very quiet and chilled out. We'll definitely be back.

My family and I stayed at Kekatos around the end of July for a week (which felt like a fortnight) and my god it was THE best holiday I have ever been on!
When we arrived it was around 10pm, we were given our welcome pack that had our room number on, but there was no key to the room. We were recommended by a lovely couple to go down to Dimitri's where Elena would do everything she can to help us get hold of the rep - that was probably the one thing that was wrong with the holiday. We had to stay in a room that had a key in it for the night which wasn't a bother and we were sorted out properly the next day when the rep came to the apartments.
The best thing about Lourdas is that there are no clubs or loud bars, just restaurants, shops and quiet bars, we took our 16 year old daughter with us who you would imagine would be very bored on the holiday but it was just as amazing for her too.
Some days we had the pool to ourselves, some days we shared it with some other guests but that wasn't a problem. The beach is probably a 2 minute walk from the apartments and then you have the restaurants and bars on that quiet strip, you have a lovely view of Zakynthos/Zante too. The beach is beautiful, my family and I aren't really beach fans but we couldn't get off it, it is truly amazing, the sea is warm and not in the slightest bit pebbly or stony on your feet.
The Klimatis and Lorraines magic hill I would recommend as they both have excellent service, Lorraines magic hill have great greek nights that has customers up and dancing with the greek dancers (they also have a pet Llama but be careful because it went for my husband ha ha!!). Klimatis serve lovely food, and the waiters and waitress' make sure you are having a good time.
Rooms aren't the best but hey.. if you want a television and a bath with a shower in it, make sure you book a 5* hotel, not a block of apartments!! Rooms were cleaned near enough everyday, people moaning about ants.. you get ants everywhere!
Argostolli is a great day out, some great shops and cafes there! Around 40 euros in a taxi return so not bad!
Overall, Lourdas and Kekatos is the place to be for a quiet, blissful, chilled holiday! Locals are very approachable and so easy to get along with, especially in Dimitri's down the hill from Kekatos, big heads up to Elena, Maki and Nikos!! Food there is to die for, club sandwiches and normal sandwiches are spot on!

YAMAS!!
(P.S. My daughter cried in the taxi on our way to the airport to go home she loved it that much!)

A beautiful location situated 30m along a track off the main road with some breathtaking views. We stayed here in June of this year and it was simply a fantastic place to go, the rooms are well equipped and very nicely decorated and the maid service is outstanding. The views from our room and balcony were beautiful. The room numbers from 1-10 with 1 being at the top of the hotel, these have the best views but all of the rooms are facing the beautiful sea and overlooking the very nice pool area.

At night you can see millions of stars above (no light pollution) and also see the twinkling lights of passing cruise liners way out at sea. You can also wake up and fall asleep to the sounds of the waves lapping the shore as the Kekatos is literally a stones throw from the beautiful beach (50 meters max).

The tavernas on the beach front are lovely with great food and very warm, friendly service, you are treated like family in this resort which just adds to the pleasure of being in this place.

I can HIGHLY recommend the Klimatis restaurant on the beach front, It has the best food you could possibly wish for. I also highly recommend the sea food as it is outstanding (as are ALL the dishes they serve) ALL of the tavernas are very good value with a superb meal and wine for 2 for around 40-60 Euros max.

The local supermarket is 50m from the Kekatos and is run by a very friendly family, it has all the provisions you need during your stay.

Bike and car hire are at the top of the steep road which is about 1.5km so get your trainers on if you're going to walk up there. We paid a mere 45 Euros for a 125 scooter for 3 days which was a bargain, the family there are also very helpful and will arrange any vehicle you ask them for.

We visited many places on the island with Assos, Myrtos Bay and Fiscaro are MUST see places, they are simply beautiful and easy to get to as the roads dont have much traffic at all.

Over all a FANTASTIC place to go and I will be moving here when I get my 6 numbers on the Lottery. :-)

Room Tip: The room numbers 1-3 have the best views but all have great views.

We have just returned from Kefalonia where we stayed at the Kekatos apartments in Lourdas, we had read reviews of the apartments which were mixed, however there is one review regarding the location which is obviously not the Kekatos.
Kekatos Apartments are situated a short walk [down] from the beach, there is also a supermarket again a short walk [up] the hill.
Lourdas village is up the hill from the apartments and my wife and I did not venture up the quite steep hill as all we required was situated down on the beach and consisted of retaurants and bars, note:- no televisions in the bars and the food and menus were varied and a very good standard and the Klematis restaurant and bar and also The Blue Sea restaurant probably the best.
Back to the accommodation, we stayed from 13th to 20th of June and found that the apartments were clean and looked after, maid service 3 to 4 times, The furniture looked as if it had been updated (chairs and tables on balcony). The pool was very clean and well maintained,we found that most folk used the stoney main beach so that the pool was very quiet with no more than 2 other couples round it (perfect)
When we arrived there was no rep to greet us but the keys were in the door and our names on the door.
A rep on the coach (not ours) did not give us a welcome card so we missed the welcome meeting so if you do welcome meetings ensure you get a card with details,
We really enjoyed our stay at Kekatos and will likely return. Baz Francis

Room Tip: Top floors very hot with sun all day lower two floors have much more shade

We stayed from 16th-30th May this year and it was our fifth visit to these studios.
There had been problems before our arrival, and guests had had no success with the rep, so they contacted Thomson directly.
You can only speak as you find, as the saying goes, and due to the earlier guests sorting out the problems, everything was fine for us.
The Studios are set in a green, pretty area, overlooking the beautiful bay of Lourdas. The rooms are simple and clean, with basic self catering facilities. The pool is a good size and the gardens are pretty.
It is very quiet at night, but is handy for the beachside bars and tavernas a short way down the hill.
A longer (and much steeper) walk up the hill, will take you to another good selection of them.
One of the complaints had been about there being no sun umbrellas around the pool, which are vital to shade British flesh from the fierce sun. Umbrellas did appear, but one was broken and they didn't really fit the fixed bases. New ones are needed and also the ones on the balconies. They are shabby and let down what is otherwise a really nice place to stay.
We've already booked for next year and are hoping the umbrellas will have been replaced!

Room Tip: All the rooms face the sea, and overlook the pool.

Just returned from Kekatos apartments and, although we have stayed at this accommodation many times before, unfortunately on this occasion there was a very noticeable and disappointing decline in both the accommodation and tour operator support.
The Thomson rep was completely hopeless and clueless telling us that we did not get any maid service and only could expect clean linen (towells and bedding) once a week, when it clearly states on the Thomson website that maid service is 5 times a week and linen changed twice a week. We waited 5 days for fresh linen which is disgraceful. The rep refused to give us a complaints form. She filled out, on our behalf, a "customer service form" which is not the same thing. I complained twice through the Thomson web site but have heard nothing at all. On the night of the 16th and early hours of the 17th May, Lourdas had a tremendous storm. The pool and pool area was completely smothered in leaves. We waited for someone to come and clear up the mess, as this area was unusable but by 10.00am it was obvious that nobody was coming and because we wanted to use the pool, 6 of us cleared it up ourselves. When we arrived on the 14th May, the pool was very cloudy and the filtration system had not been switched on, so one resident said that she could not risk going into the pool as it was not clean.

To cut a dismal story short, our next 2 holidays to Lourdas are booked with Manos and staying at Vila Mare.

Just returned from Kekatos apartments and I am sorry to report a disappointing decline in both the accommodation and tour operator support. This was our 5th year and some "regulars" have been there 21 plus times and we have not known it so poor. If you intend to visit you need to be aware until it is sorted of course

1. Arrived on 9th May. No rep or room number so we chose our own room
2. Our toilet would not flush. As no rep in resort had to use Thomson help line which worked well I must say but is expensive so be aware
3. Rep situated in Scala so only see after each welcome meeting (3 times in 14 days). She was no help unfortunately. She would not even allow us to formally write a complaint until our last day so we did not bother
4. Pool not cleaned until it went cloudy. We cleaned the pool ourselves after some storms brought a lot of tree debris (no sign of owner)
5. Supposed to have 5 days of maid service and linen changed twice per week. Maid came 5 times per week and only removed rubbish. Linen change for us was 2 times in 14 days which is totally unacceptable

To cut a longer story short, Kekatos is a lovely location which has minimal support. To make the best of your holiday -

1. Be aware that you may be on your own on arrival
2. Take some ant powder with you
3. Look after the Pool

We intend to go back once Thomson and the owner have the problems solved

Room Tip: All face the sea. 1 to 4 are on top floor, 5 to 8 are on middle floor, 9 and 10 have restricted sea...
