I have to agree with most of what the previous reviewer had to say. But we stayed in the new building with view on the pool. The room was large but standardt but bathroom was great, marble and well equipped. Beds are uncomfortable like most beds in Greece.
We loved the food! The lunches were fantastic and they used food fresh from their own organic farm. I never ate potatoes like that!!!!
We loved the pools, and did not really have a problem with the towels and I was able to get as many as I wanted. The doctor visit was a total waste of time, I agree. But, overall we had a wonderful experience, there is something so interesting about this place and I am going back this June with a group. But, I think a 3 day stay is more than enough. The town is full of elderly people and looks very run down. Make sure and eat loukoumades at the sea side next to all the tavernas, they are delicious!
We found the reception people to be very nice and helpful.
I would definately recommend this place but only if you are on your way somewhere else, like Skiathos or if you are touring the whole island of Evia.

“Historical lux building, not very good service”

This would be the best hotel in Euboea (and one of the best in Greece) if they were more careful with the service. Historical restored building (19th century) with many famous guests in the past (Onassis, Callas, Garbo...) and one of the best thermal spas in Europe. Located in Edipsos takes advantage of the very good quality hot thermal springs. Therapeutical since ancient and Roman times (Sylla liked it very much there). The building and the facilities are very nice. Only problem is the fence around the huge outdoors swimming pool, that makes you go around whenever you need something. It's heated and used all year round, but in March there was noone giving towels outside, so we had to walk a lot for that. Also, they were very stingy with towels. They gave one big towel only for outside but when we went into the indoors swimming pool and asked for one more they didn't want to give. They had small towels for indoors (!) and still they didn't want to give more, forcing us to use the same wet one! The room rate is expensive enough, but they don't allow sauna and hamam use along with the pools. Only pool and jacuzzis are free for guests. Other hotels include self-servise sauna use... Sauna rooms were just next to the pool, but they charge too much per person, so we didn't use it.
Another negative thing was that we had to wait a lot for our room at check-in (even if it was noon and we informed them of our arrival time) and then wait MORE for the doctor (obligatory) just to use the thermal pool. They could help us finish earlier by giving us the papers to complete (the doctor just takes the pressure), but they didn't bother untill I got angry!
We paid more for an "executive" room but we didn't get what we saw in the pictures. We just had seaview, but no deluxe furniture, no bathtub, nothing more than the cheaper standard rooms. Also breakfast could be better. It was basic breakfast buffet for the price of a 5* (it's a 4* hotel though).
A nice thing is that they offered us a juice while waiting at check-in, but the good service stops here. Everything else was average considering the price. And the rudeness of a certain staff member (the one with the "towels' incident") made me not to want to visit the hotel again, even if it has the best quality thermal spa in Greece and I love spa!
