Stayed at the Pefki Islands in June for 2 weeks. My partner, 5 year old daughter and myself in a studio apartment at the top of the complex.

We normally stay in 1 bedroom apartments and were concerned prior to arrival that we would find the living space small, but apartment was fine and we had a super terrace. Furnishings fine and room very clean. Excellent shower. Maid service was friendly and very good. Absolutely no complaints on this. Although 65 euros a week for aircon was an expensive but necessary purchase. Safety deposit box pricing a rip off as has been mentioned.

Overall quality of this complex is very high, and well looked after. The small supermarket is close and stocks most things you would need. There is a larger supermarket just north of Lindos, as well as other small ones scattered round Pefkos. Best stocked is probably at the bakery up the hill.

There is a short walk to the beach, and although small, it is one of its features and is one of the best beaches we have been on. Clean and very safe for my little girl. My partner swam most mornings and she enjoyed the sea here very much. Good castle building sand. 8 euros a day for 2 loungers.

The downside for me was Pefkos itself. My partner was fairly happy, but I find it a very dull resort. Nothing to recommend it or remember. Restaurants Ok, good prices and eaten in worse places. Tried Enigma and had a lovely Greek speciality meal, but unimpressed with the customer service.

Venture to Lindos. It is lovely. Worth the climb to the Acropolis. Full of charm and character. Incredibly busy sometimes, but after 4 p.m is is very quiet. Hired a car from Marathon which was fine, and travelled the island. Driving here quite straightforward.

So a relaxing holiday, Pefki Islands excellent and Pefkos used as a base for exploring the rest of Rhodes is fine. But we won't return to Pefkos.

I had invested a lot of effort researching this holiday.......I only hoped it would pay off !! I needn't have worried - it was even better than I could have expected.
My party had two rooms on the ground floor near the lower pool....very convenient for my daughter to see if her friends were by the pool...
and as a subsequent short cut. The rooms were immaculate and big enough for two adults, one 8yr old and an 18month - brand new cot provided....oh and the shower even has a door...for those who put an importance on such things!

The evening entertainment (the Greek night is a must) is by the top pool, so if you prefer it a bit quieter, ask to be nearer the lower pool.

The staff are fantastic, particularly Nicos at the pool bar, but the girls in reception and at the kids' club do a great job.

For breakfast we just got pain au chocolat and croissant from the shop opposite - it had everything we needed for breakfast and pre-dinner snacks/drinks.

Eating out is simple: for lunch go towards the beach (sandy and quiet), the lovely restaurant has fantastic views and even better food - my father is half Greek and judges the stuffed vine leaves as being the best he has ever tasted....they are made by the owner's mum, using leaves from vines outside the restaurant. If you want something special, just ask and he'll order it in - we had a huge fish for the last day. In the evening a slightly up-hill walk of about 10 mins will take you into the centre of Pefkos - where all tastes are catered for - Greek food and 'international' food. We were interested in the former and visited Nefeli, Enigma and Nostalgia. All were excellent, but Nefeli certainly got the nod for the personal touch - a much more intimate and friendly service...we always ordered the kids food as we sat down and it was always very prompt in arriving.

We did venture out once to Lindos - BIG mistake....if you want to go, go first thing in the morning, before the buses and boat loads arrive....it was absolute chaos when we went at 11. We chose to take a taxi to and from the airport, but I'm not sure it saved that much time.

I'd go back here again without hesitation - you really can't do better around here. Ruby and Emelye - Sophie says hi !

A great little hotel with a lot of charm. Well maintained gardens and spotlessly clean, we found it an ideal location to have a couple of weeks away from the madness back at home!

The plus sides: Pefkos is quiet, packed with good quality restaurants and some nice bars. It is not for those who want loads to do in the evenings, but it has its own atmosphere that makes it a very relaxing place to holiday.

The hotel is built for famiies and couples. Some generally low-key entertainment (one night of karaoke only, don't know what the other reviews were talking about?!), our favourite night was the girl band tribute act. There is a kids club in the hotel, but there didn't seem to many kids in the complex the weeks we went.

Food is reasonably priced (€6 for breakfast,, €5 for snack meals) and drinks are roughly the same as in the village (€3 for a beer). Unfortunately the weak £ makes everything more expensive than it used to be.

The beach is 5 minutes walk away, although it is tiny and overpopulated when you get there.

The minuses: Air condition was expensive, we expected that. The Safety Deposit Box was a complete rip off. €50 for two weeks for what is essentially the hire of a key. Poor show, that.

The staff are very friendly, a mix of Greek and a couple of English girls who ran the kids activities.

Overall, a nice relaxing place which was just what we wanted.

We have just recently returned from a weeks holiday at the Pefki Islands resort, we were in Rhodes for a family wedding and stayed at the Pefki as that’s were the rest of the wedding party were staying. On the whole we couldn’t fault the Pefki Island, all the apartments our party stayed in were very clean and looked as if they had just been decorated. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. Although we did not eat from the poolside bar some of our party did and the food always looked very nice. The hotel and its staff really looked after the Bride and Groom on their wedding day, they were given flowers, champagne and discount off a meal in a local restaurant. Our only complaint as mentioned in other reviews was the music, the music around the main pool bar was far too loud during the day, and if you were sitting having a drink you had to shout if you wanted to talk or order a drink. We were in Block D so right next to the pool which was great by day but beware if you stay in this block of the karaoke night, the memory of sitting in my apartment listening to some bloke murdering Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol will stay with me forever. Pefkos itself is a one street town but there are good bus links to Lindos, Lardos and Rhodes town, the bus stop in Rhodes town is between the Old Town and the new so you can easily spend a day their wandering around the Old Town. If you don’t want to cater for yourself there are some good restaurants in Pefkos, most restaurants have the same menu but some are better than others. For meals until 3pm try the Fuse Bar (just off the main street on the main drag down to the beach) its run by and English lady Lindsay and her husband. For evening meals try The Correllie (just out of Pefkos on the road to Lardos), we went there for the wedding reception, for three of the nights of our holiday we ate at the Thelassol(I think that’s the correct name) it’s on the way out of Pefkos towards Lardos on the right hand side. We were also recommended the Greek House by some brits who live in Rhodes but never got the chance to try it. On the whole we had a good holiday and would recommend the apartment.

“Nice place but extreamly expensive air con & safe hire”

Pefki Islands Resort

Jun 19, 2008

Firstly I'll comment on our room, large room with a nice balcony and more importantly a fridge. However, I was slightly taken back at the 47 euro safe hire which at the exchange rate was approx £40 for the 2 weeks. The first few days were very hot with the windows closed to aviod being eaten alive by the mossies !! so I enquired at the cost for air con which was around £10 per day, I'm glad it started to cool down at night cuz I wasn't prepared to pay that !!

I don't like to moan but one of the pool's had loud music playing all the time so it was hard to read your book or try to have a dooze by the pool, I wouldn't mind but the music was crap !!

Every day your room is sweeped but not moped so my girlfriend had to go out and buy some bleach and star moping the floor until they noticed us doing this and started doing it themselves !!

The staff were wonderful and the hotel and location was great apart from the little things mentioned above. We wouldn't go back there mainly because we live to go to different Island and we'd rather go back to Islands such as Santorini, Kefalonia and Allonossos which in our opinion are more like the preper 'untouched real' Greece that we like.

The food the the restaurants was fantastic but we found the wine in particular a bit pricey, going to the small islands we were used to a loacl Greek red costing euros for a ltr but in Pethos it was about 12.

This accomodation and location is perfect for couples with children but for people who want an Island with real Greek charm I'd go for Santorini or Allonossos any time.
