“Well-located clean, modern and friendly hotel near Kos harbour-front”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

The Alexandra Hotel Kos Town is well located, on a quiet street but less than five minutes’ walk from the bustling harbour-front that never seems to sleep. The main monuments (Castle, Tree of Hippocrates, Agora) are a ten minute amble away, and the catamaran port (for travel to the other Dodecanese islands) just fifteen minutes or so by foot.

The hotel is clean and welcoming and the staff friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern and comfortable and those on the seaward side of the upper floors have nice views of the harbour.

Breakfast offers something for everyone, from fresh fruit to bacon and eggs with tasty little Greek cakes to accompany coffee. Breakfast is generally a quiet event as many guests are there to enjoy the Kos nightlife. Occasionally they arrive home noisily in the early hours, but what little disturbance we heard was short-lived and not an issue for us.

This was our third stay at the Alexandra, on our way between other Dodecanese islands. With each visit, the hotel has grown on us. We’ll certainly be back.

I stayed here because relatives from Kos recommended it. I found the staff to be really nice and helpful. I had a nice sized room and a gorgeous view of the harbor. It's a little bit dated, but well maintained and clean. For 85€/night in the summer, I felt like I got a great deal.

The location is fantastic for exploring Kos Town. You're extremely close to the center square and the harbor. Boundless shopping and eating options. However, if you're coming from a ferry and you have luggage, you should grab a cab. It cost me about 6€.

Also, it's an easy stroll to the town beach. I just picked a restaurant at random - sunbeds are free for most of them, as long as you eat or drink something. I never used the pool. It's in a shady small enclosed courtyard and isn't very vacation like. As it says in the name, this is the "city hotel", so it's a great place to jump off and explore, but it's not a hotel you'd spend the day at.

The wifi didn't work well for me, but there is free wifi.

I managed to miss breakfast each day (ends at 10), so it was helpful they have a small menu available for brunch/ lunch if you need it.

Finally, as I was traveling for a while, it was a bonus they would send your laundry out for you. One wash was 9€.

All in all, I'd return and tell friends to stay there.

Room Tip: Try to get a view of the harbor. Also, it's the highest bldg in Kos Town, so try to book the 4th...

Great Location, basic hotel. The Hotel is 2-3 Star not 4 star as advertised. Excellent views from the side rooms over Kos Harbour. Hotel is used mainly by Northern European Students who make a lot of noise and congregate on the landings talking and shouting loudly.

Also a word of warning the receptionist at night locks the doors so you have to bang the window to gain entrance. This nuisance every night made us feel like we where staying in a Youth Hostel!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We stayed at this hotel over a week in June recently. Have read mixed reviews and never having stayed here before went with a totally open mind.

On arrival around midnight one Thursday, the guy on reception said welcome to Kos. This was nice as you think he would welcome us to the hotel first. Anyway, b asics out of the way he explained about the times for breakfast, the air conditioning in our room and also answered a few simple questions that I threw at him about where to go and what to see. Sometimes at that time of night the receptionists cannot really be bothered as it is late and they want to get home, this guy was totally different.

When we got to our room we opened the doors to the balcony and wow !! what a view. Kos harbour was lit up by all of the pleasure boats that go to Turkey and other Greek Islands each day. The view was breathtaking. I have seen this view before at sea level but that was spectacular.

You may have deduced that I have been to Kos before, only 12 times and I have never stayed at this hotel!!

We went down to breakfast at around 09.00am as did most of the other guests, so it was quite busy. It is a buffet type and there is fruit juice, cereals of various types, bacon, tomatoes, beans and mushrooms and also cold meats, toast and cake. Tea and coffee is available along with Nescafe ( other brands are not available?).

The hotel has a splash pool which from a previous report someone had said that it was not private as it was overlooked by the breakfast room. I wonder if this person goes swimming in the sea that may be overlooked by everyone on that beach!!

The public areas are very clean as are the hotel rooms and foyer. There is limited parking outside but as this is a transit type of hotel there is normally room. When I say transit, I mean that many different nationals use this hotel as a base for island hopping and although we were there for a week we did not see the same people for the week of our stay.

Diana at breakfast was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Maria and Effi on reception were so helpful. Vasilis who works in reservations helped us with car hire. Beware, this is not cheap!. One day cost us nearly one hundred euros.

Overall we had a beautiful time with lovely and friendly staff. We also met the manager of the hotel ( a very nice lady) who came down to see us off home which I thought was really thoughtful.

Room Tip: Try for the fourth floor at the front of the hotel for great views of the harbour.

Beautiful hotel with nice sized rooms. Nice views of the Harbor and walking distance to everything in Kos Town and most important for us, walking distance to the ferries. The staff was friendly & very helpful. Definitely a great value, also! Hope to go back some day!

2 minutes walk from the main square in Kos Town The Alexandra offers great value for money with a good location. Friendly staff, fast and free wifi and a reasonable view of the harbour - highly recommended.
