We just returned from 2 weeks in Greece stopping in Athens, Heraklion, many villages in the Southern coast of Crete and the Artemis in Megalochori, Santorini.
We loved the Artemis best of all. The views were amazing and the owners/managers were great. They welcomed us with champagne and gave us all the necessary info to find our way around the island. I believe all of the rooms overlook the pool and volcano in the sea beyond. It was a breathtaking site. A hearty breakfast is served poolside each morning and then evening cocktails are served at sunset. The hotel is not in the busy capital city of Thira/Fira which is worth visiting for dinner and shopping. It is also not in the town of Ia/Oia which is also beautiful. Both cities are easily accesible by local bus which has a stop a few yards from the Artemis. You can also take the bus south to the black or red beaches. Each bus ride is approx 20 minutes and costs one Euro.
The Artemis is quiet and convenient to everything. There is a great winery called Canava a short walk from the hotel on the way back from the bus stop that is family run and a nice place to visit.
