As others have said, this is a fantastic day. The Blue Lagoon was a beautiful catamaran and we had the best time. I wanted to go out on the water and called Santorini Sailing the day before. As it was end of the season (October), there was a light load of guests in town so they were able to get us on the boat. There ended up being 3 couples aboard and we had a great time talking with the other 2 couples as well as Captain Ted, and his great crew. Ted is greek and moved to Santorini about 15 years ago after having grown up in New Jersey. Therefore, his English is perfect as is his Greek and knowledge of the island. He basically had a rough schedule in mind but let us guide where to go and what to do. I even got a chance to "power snorkel" which was awesome (hanging off the back ladder with snorkel on while boat goes slowly along) and the waters are so clear that I could see the bottom for a long way. The dinner was also excellent with grilled calamari, prawns and greek cuisine. Overall, it is worth every cent of the 150E per person to have this sort of luxury and private boat tour of the island. It truly felt as though friends were taking us out on their boat for the afternoon.

Took the afternoon sail with Captain Ted and cannot stop talking about it! Yes, its 300 euros per couple, but well worth it. The staff was very pleasing and attentive to your every need. Views were amazing! If you spend one day in santorini, this is a must -do!!!!

We have been to Greece many times, and Santorini is always a stop. For whatever reason we had not gone on one of Capt. Ted's trips. Well, this time we changed that and makes me wish we had done it earlier. Really was Bill and Ted's excellent adventure.
We took the sunset tour and found it a great way to see Santorini from the water. It is a very low key trip with a few other folks, instead of being jamed on a cattle boat with a ton of others. The meal is one of, if not the best you will have on your trip.
Ted is not the 1st to do this, but he refined it to a fine art. There are others doing it now, but his is with out a doubt the best of the bunch.
Guess what I'm trying to say is, do not skip this. It is well worth your while.
Bill

We cruised with Santorini sailing and it was great. We sailed with Ted and Andy. Ted is the owner. There are no more than 12 people on the Catamaran which makes it great. You are pampered and Ted and Andy will tell you about the areas we pass by or stop at. Dinner is made by Ted and Andy and quite delicious. We had prongs, calamari, pasta salad, cucumber and zucchini spreads, bread, chicken, pork and I'm sure I'm missing a couple of things. Beer, wine, soda and water are served throughout the cruise.

When the Catamaran stops you can go in the water, there is snorkeling equipment that you can use.

We took the sunset cruise and I strongly suggest this one. We stayed out for the sunset which was spectacular.

Oh yes, we laughed because we were driven right to the boat (the dock was long)and our driver was waiting for us when the cruise was over.

Make sure if you want to go out on a boat you use this company. The other boats we saw had a lot of people on them. We were able to take all the pictures we wanted with no obstructions. Santorini is a beatiful Island and should be seen from the Sea.

The cruise was about $130 euros and certainly worth every penny.

We did the half-day morning sail on a Blue Lagoon catamaran (aka Santorini Sailing) and it was a wonderful experience. It was $150 each, including transportation from Firostefani to the boat and back. Yes, you can get on one of the big tourist boats for less, but this was so much better - a maximum of 10 guests (we only had 8) and it felt like being on a friend's private boat rather than being herded through a tourist attraction. (Note that the review below saying you don't need to book ahead, and to take the tram down to the dock, is for one of the big tour boats, not Blue Lagoon - definitely book a reservation with Blue Lagoon, as the spaces can fill up!)
We made 3 swim stops during the day, including one at lunchtime in a private cove in the thermal waters (not really 'hot springs') between the center islands, after cruising by the spot where hundreds of people were swimming from several large tour boats. After asking if there were any allergies (to which they will cater - another advantage of a small group) they prepared a simple but delicious meal of shrimp, calamari, chicken, pork, Greek salad, pasta salad, bread, dips, etc. And there were unlimited beverages throughout the day, wine glasses constantly refilled. Do bring your camera, sunscreen and towels (there are some on board but may not be enough). This was a fantastic way to experience Santorini!
