“Good budget location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

I've been there with my girlfriend, we book the double room Dimitra. The location was great, 50 mt from the beach and the sea (wonderful sea!!!). The room was new (built in spring 2011), clam and quite, very clean, with all comforts, and it cost just 50 euro per day.
The price is quite high for Naxos, but the room really worth it. The rest of Maragas is just a camping, not so good, and the breakfast there is quite horrible, but if you book the private room you can do your own vacations, quite apart from the camping.
Naxos is really great beaches, great sea, great food, not so touristic as other island in the area.
Enjoy!

Placed in an beach area not so distant from the main city, this camping is a very nice place to spend your holidays or just some days. The camping is very quite, reception and bar have nice people working in,service is good and if you need some advice someone will certainly help you.
Toilets are maybe the only worse point but they are ok anyway, they get cleaned continously so there's no problem anyway.
The connection to the city is good, there's a bus every half an hour until 2 in the morning and the area is full of bars, restaurants and car/moto rental so that you don't really need to go there everyday if you don't want.
Beaches are very nice and well served, some cost more some less and there are free ones too.
I really enjoyed my stay there!

We visited the camping during August (two camples, we are all experienced campers).
The camping was not full even it was on the 14th of August, plenty of spaces were available for us to choose. The camping is well placed, very closed to the beach and quite closed to Chora. All places are well protected by the sun. We were planning to stay for 6 nights.

From day one, we noticed that the security did not excist at all as the reception was closed after 23:00 and the gate was wide open for everyone who would like to get in the premisises.

We stayed 2 nigths as the 2nd day I found out that the toilets where roughly cleaned with a mop after having cleaned the floor with it! When I reported it to the reception, they refused to check the toilets and informed me that they did not have any other complaints. When I asked if they were going to do something about it, the answer was that they were very busy and if I would like I could leave the place anytime. Of course we follοwed their advise.

I would never recomend this place.

Located in one of the best beaches in Naxos island so be prepared to spend most of your time on the beach, because studios/apartments are not the most "relaxing" place to be; They are really small, old and beds are uncomfortable for the price paid (63 euros per night - double room), but it was fine for us since we wanted to be on the beach all day long. The shop has fresh products on fair prices and the taverna "Manolis" has good traditional food including a 10% discount. We've had no problems with the personnel, the bar was OK and the surroundings are well kept.

We camped at Maragas in June 2012. The facilities are great and everything was maintained to a very high standard. The shop is well stoked, including fresh bread still warm from the bakers, every morning. The camping area is under trees and has additional rush shading, while the showers are open to the sunshine (but screened for privacy). There is a bar and campsite restaurant, plus several other tavernas close by. The naturist beach is 5 minutes walk to the north, the beach in front of the campsite has umbrellas and sun lounger and several tavernas right on the beach. The beach faces west, giving wonderful romatic sunsets.

Just a quick note to thank everyone at Maragas Camping for another excellent and relaxing holiday. After a long journey, we were unpacked, stocked up and relaxing two hours after arriving. Really friendly people, beautiful beach a stones throw away, lovely food from Manolis that you can take away for those evenings when the kids were over tired, and lovely grapes from the farm in the supermarket. Special thanks to Nikolas for getting my 4 yr old over his homesickness. And of course Petra for another great holiday. See you next year.
