“One wonders why it attracts so many tourists...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

I could not comprehend why it is so busy! So we decided to pay Araksovoli a visit...
An average service, for an average dish...
We wanted a light lunch so we got a Greek salad and another one that I cannot even recall...
I have not seen a smaller Greek salad with so little olive oil in my whole life... (it reminded me the time I was dieting), I mean come on... Lettuce in a Greek salad? this is such a no no... and it cries out that the dishes are tailored to tourists new to Greek cuisine with no reference point.
I wouldn't recommend it to any friend of mine and I wouldn't rush back... (the only point is that Loutra in general have an average range of restaurants, so... given the limited choices one has... )

“Excellent overall!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2011

First of all, Kythnos is a yet unspoiled island of the Cyclades, definitely worth a visit. We chose it basically because of the cheap ferry tickets from Lavrio and the also cheap rooms we found at the beautiful Kanala's area. Well, we are definitely glad for our choice. The main villages of Dryopida and Messaria are enchanting, two less known cycladic gems. You can also get around the island easily (preferably by car) and find many beautiful bays with secrets to reveal. Now, about Araksovoli. We first visited it on the Friday before Easter, when in Greece it's a fasting period (not sure about the word, basically we don't eat meat). It was an apocalypse. Situated just by the beach of Loutra (where there is a small port for the boat owners), it offers a great scenery and greater food. The seafood was definitely fresh, well cooked and tasty, and almost all the dishes we took were at a level you can find at few restaurants in Athens. The service was exemplary and friendly, and after all the above we decided to have our Easter meal there too. Well, it was even better! We enjoyed our time at Araksovoli so much! Best of all, the price was unbeatable- about 15-17 euros per person for a very...full meal. In conclusion, Araksovoli was probably the best restaurant we have ever visited on a greek island and it's cuisine can be easily compared to that of the best athenian restaurants. Just pay a visit and you will remember us...
