“Langada's heaven?...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

What does make the Pagali Hotel so close to Eden's garden?
Is it because of the place? The owners, the crew? Or maybe the food served at the tavern? It is all of that!

Nikos and his wife Joanna have perfectly blended all these ingredients to create a unique atmosphere, perfect mix between authenticity, warmth and comfort...

Concretely speaking, the hotel was fully booked when we arrived and we first occupied a sweet little room with a giant communal terrace with an outstanding view on the bay (the #3). Then, Nikos did all his possible and proposed us an amazing studio (the #19) with a personal balcony with the same outstanding view on the bay than the previous one. The studio includes a fully equipped kitchenette (but, frankly speaking, it would be a shame not to enjoy the delicious and various dishes the chief proposes at the Pagali's tavern!), and both the room and the studio were offering a LCD TV (but who cares watching TV in this paradise?) and air conditioning. They were both very nicely decorated and very recently refurbished.

Last but not least, Nikos, Joanna and all the people working here are surely the most important part which makes that place a must. Always smiling and helpful, full of good advice and humor, they are finally all very hard to leave when holidays comes to its end...

Conclusion: We originally planned to stay in Amorgos for three days, and we finally left our brand new family after one week... Promising them to come back the sooner possible. :-)

As an occasional trip advisor user, I tend to feel suspicious when people post excellent reviews about a place. I think to myself that those people must have personal ties to the owner of the place under review.

Well I can assure you that I have no ties whatsoever to the owners of the Pagali Hotel - Nikos and Ioanna - and that my excellent review is the result of my wonderful stay at the Pagali hotel.
Initially, me and my girlfriend planned to stay only for two days in Amorgos, but we quickly decided to extend our stay at the Pagali Hotel to six nights for the following reasons:
- Great studio (spacious, clean, freshly refurnished, with a very comfy king size bed and a nice terrace overlooking the beautiful Ageali Bay);
- Very nice restaurant (adjacent to the Pagali hotel) also run by Nikos and Ioanna, where they serve at any time of the day a variety of traditional Greek meals with organic products;
- Very reasonable prices in light of the quality of the services provided;
- The owners as well as the staff were really kind throughout our stay and very helpful;
- Last but not least, unlike some other Greek islands, Amorgos does not suffer from the ills of mass tourism. It has great hikes, great beaches scattered across the island, a handful of authentic villages with warm people, and a very natural touch (for example you see goats walking freely around Amorgos).

In short, I would clearly recommend the Pagali Hotel.

My initial reservation to stay at Pagali was only for two days, but after my first day I knew I didn't want to leave. My room was spacious clean, with a great mattress and the morning view from the balcony was magnificent. The owners, Ioanna, Niko and their son made you feel you were part of their family. We had no coffee pot in the room and our request was met immediately. The service was courteous and respectful to our demands.My Wi-Fi worked beautifully and the food at the little taverna was good. All our needs met with a smile . I would recommend this hotel very highly. The boat from Athens arrives 2:00AM but the owners will come and get you from Aigialis. By the way you have to go and meet the local artist Panayiotis Maroulis and his Gold Award winner Organic Honey," Amorgiano".

Room Tip: My room was on the second floor with a beautiful view.

If you want the artificial tourist experience of Mykonos or Santorini then The Pagali is not for you. However if you want a genuine experience of a greek island, village welcome then it is.
Nikos and Ioanna and their loyal staff are living examples of traditional greek hospitality. They will meet ferries at any time of night. Make you feel welcome in simple but beautiful and comfortable rooms, many with spectacular views.
Excellent food and drink and a warm welcome is available at their taverna and bar, where there is an interesting mix of locals and regular visitors. If you wish to see and meet your food before you eat it, then Nikos enjoys showing people around his farm. Daily fresh bread is available from his bakery.
The hotel is in a spectacular setting with sea and mountain views. Evening drinks are made special by the sun sets over Naxos , the donkeys returning from work and the locals playing bowls. Langada is a beautiful and interesting Cycladic village with very friendly residents and with walking access to wonderful mountain scenery. The spring flowers are overwhelming. There are many very special chapels and a wonderful monastery at the end of a lovely walk. This is a walker’s paradise with something for everyone from the least to the most demanding. No car is necessary. If you are lucky enough to visit at Easter, an unforgettable experience awaits you.
From thirty years’ experience of visiting over 30 islands, The Pagali and Amorgos provide a unique experience. I have hesitated about this entry as the Pagali experience is special and should only attract discerning visitors who want to appreciate a traditional greek experience. However, at a time when there is so much nonsense in the media about visiting Greece, which deserves loyal supporters, we owe it to Nikos and Ioanna to tell people of the very special service they provide. People very rarely visit once. Many have been returning for decades.

Room Tip: While obviously costing a bit more, the studios with views over the bay are wonderful - kitchen area...

We are a Small family who stayed at "Pagali" hotel. Our initial impressions during booking as well as the facilities and the location were certainly on the positive side. However, during our stay, several problems arose. The management, although they appeared to understand the issues, didn’t seem to be on top of the situation. Here’s a list of things we didn’t like: we were given a room different to the one originally agreed something that required further negotiations and "relocation" in order to gain a more reasonable room for our needs. We also experienced problems with the conduct of room service staff, noise during the night from the adjacent tavern (which is part of the hotel) and some days lack of hot water in the shower. Another thing was the quality of bed mattresses (too worn-out or of bad quality?).Finally, the wifi was not working from within the room.
About the hotel’s restaurant (tavern): we only ate only once so we have somehow limited experience. Starters were decent but main dishes have been rather disappointing.

near the hotel was Nikos Tavern (owner of pagali) with biological greens and his free eat meat and stufs fro his farm. all was very good ....but the only problem were on cooking stufs. all grills and salads was dilicious ,but only those. all other coking things ,are owfull, with no good cooking, or full of oil ,or with no or very bad taste.
