Hubby and myself stayed in Ekavi Beach Hotel last week and booked out after two days! The rooms are very limited, you can't lay on your bed and leave the curtains open as other balcony's look into your room, so you're in constant darkness. There was no kettle to make a hot drink, my husband was told that it would cost 5 euros per day to have one and that the kitchenette was also 5 euros per day, so it would have cost us 10 euros per day to make a drink of coffee. The first day we arrived we went out in the evening to get a meal, it was virtually impossible as all the local tavernas were closed. We had to walk 6 kilometres into Platanes to get something, my husband had seriously sprained his ankle on a few days before so that wasn't good. We arrived back in a taxi which cost 9 euros, the elderly owner was sat in the dining area picking his toes and cutting his toe nails, the next morning when we went down to breakfast we were sat in the same area. The following morning we went down to breakfast to witness the elderly lady owner picking her nose in the dining area after having put the continental breakfast out. Unfortunately that was the final straw for me! The mattresses on the beds are rock hard and the springs dig in during the night, you daren't turn over because you can't get comfortable. Our backs were very sore in the mornings after laying in one position all night. We used the beach which is at the hotel which was quite pleasant. On two occasions we decided to have something to eat at the poolside bar and restaurant. We waited for over an hour and an hour and a half for someone to serve us. On the second occasion we gave up, the staff could see us waiting but carried talking to each other in the kitchen. I'm diabetic so need to eat regularly and be consistent with meals. We couldn't even get a loaf of bread in the area as there were no shops open. The receptionist was very nice and very helpful, she speaks English, German and Greek and will put herself out to accommodate you. She needs to find a better hotel next season which can accommodate her talents. The sheets were stained and the towels were thread bare. The family who own this hotel seem to have given up! We checked out and booked into the MARINOS HOTEL which is in Platanes, the mattresses were new and had mattress toppers - HEAVEN!!! The family owners were lovely and friendly and were always available.
