I don't know where to start telling the tale about AVLI... I am not even sure I want to, because in a way i want to keep it a hidden gem for those few of us that have stayed there...

Many have eaten there, since AVLI originally is a restaurant. And I think it is just as well in a way, that the story about AVLI can stop there for those who have enjoyed an evening there in that lovely outdoor, super romantic restaurant, and are truelly happy about that... I don't want to ruin their experience in telling them what they REALLY have missed out on... In a way it can not be explained in words...

So how on earth can this girl from the polite, but "cold" Norway have gone bananas, and become such a true fan of this place...

Well let me tell you... When we visited them last year the lounge apartment Suites had only been open for some months... So I actually found the place all my myself and ALL by accident faaar into the Internet universe... There were no reviews to be found or anything... But I just HAD to go by my gut-feeling - let me tell you al little about gut-feelings another time... :-)))

Then look at the Brown Suite... We started our holiday there and stayed there for 4 days... It was just incredibly wonderful! We found total peace after having had a really hectic work period the both of us, and just came to paradise!!!! And the one who warmly welcomed us, and took care of us was Antonella... what AVLI would have been without Antonella I don't dear to think...

When we first arrived with the taxi (that she had arranged for us at the airport), we came in by the pedestrian-area, and was helped into the Courtyard at AVLIs with its magnificent outdoor intimate restaurant with a lot of red flovers hanging above and around. We had a complimentary drink while she got our passports and had our luggage brought up to our Suite. Then she guided us up to the Brown Suite right on the very top, - so it was actually a Penthouse-suite. And a really beautiful one. She showed us around, and to my great surprise there were two terrasses there!!!! One smaller and one large one! And there was a large jacuzzi and all sorts of complementaries, and snacks and a welcome handwritten letter to us, and a welcome liquer, and complementary softdrinks and some beer in the fridge...

Then to the breakfast... OH MYYYYY GODDDD!!!! It was sooo wonderful! First you are seated under the trees in the restaurant, and the the waiter comes with some juice by your choice and coffe / tee / Frappee (try this; cold excellent coffee), and some bread / snackbread and some cheese and honney (big in Crete), THEN you can choose the most wonderful courses with everything from your more typical eggs / bacon ++ to cold other wonderful courses - and THEN you have dessert... And the breakfast was from like 09.30 to 11.30/12ish, if I don't remember incorrectly... We had breakfast and lunch in one, because there was so much food and not to forget: excellent service!
