“A must if your visiting Rethymnon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

This restaurant has a lovely welcoming atmosphere and is a haven in the middle of Rethymnon. We would not hesitate to recommend this as a relaxing and comfortable place to dine. The food is traditional Greek cuisine and very delicious with the lamb kleftiko being a particular favourite of ours. The service was excellent and you are made to feel like a welcomed old friend. We ordered the organic house rose wine, which once consumed was replenished free of charge. We were given a bunch of grapes to complete the meal, very tasty and when finished were offered more, which we politely refused. We will as always return to this restaurant on our next visit to Crete, as it ticks so many boxes.

“SHADY AND PEACEFUL AWAY FROM THE CROWDS”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

Didn't eat here, just went for relaxing iced tea, but the menu seemed varied and reasonably priced. Lovely shady garden away from the tourist crowds, playing nice subdued jazz when I was there around 6 p.m. on a Saturday evening - In the large square outside by the old mosque was a group of young people practising traditional dancing with musicians - a lovely thing to experience - far removed from the "Euro-pop" usually encountered. Would highly recommend.

“Great and cozy place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

I do recommend this place to everyone! Second time in Rethymnon and all 10 days were having dinner at this place! Delicious cuisine, very comfortable place, extraordinary nice people. The whole atmosphere makes you feel like a desired guest. Many thanks to all the staff and the chef!

“Lovely Lemon Tree”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

We had read some reviews on this restaurant, but having visited several other places that had been recommended on here, and being disappointed with those, we reluctantly tried it.

How pleased we were that we gave it a go! We went for a set menu, it was a €20 per head 'Gastronomy'' meal which included wine. The food was traditional Greek fayre and it just kept on coming! Each dish was explained to us and everything was delicious. We received a basket of bread with olives and other accompaniments while we waited for the starters and as we were hungry, and complete gannets, we polished it off fairly quickly. A new basket and more olives etc were delivered, with no extra charge. The wine was perfectly ok and the dessert, a set milk dish a bit like panna cotta, was yummy.

We were given some more wine on the house when we asked for the bill and were delivered with the usual plate of melon etc and were told to relax and take our time. Considering the place was full by then it was a nice touch.

We thought the garden restaurant was a lovely setting, very pretty and romantic. The staff were all lovely and very friendly. It was our favourite meal of the holiday!

“Food was average ... but the service? Not so much.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

The food was average and arrived within a reasonable time, but we sat there waiting for the check, or ANY additional interaction with the wait staff, for at least 45 minutes after we were clearly finished with our meal. We watched dumb-founded as the "garden" emptied of customers. One of the waitresses stood chatting with one table - even getting her picture taken with the party - for a full 20 minutes while we were left to wait. Not the quality of service we have come to expect in Crete. Very disappointing.
