Maureen and I returned last Thursday from our fourth visit to the Astali and as always found the hotel clean and everyone friendly and helpful. We had a room at the front which we found hot and noisy this year but were moved into a back room with no trouble or fuss. The breakfast was fresh with a good selection. We have no complaints at all and will be back.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter and cooler.

We have just returned from our third visit to this wonderful hotel. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean as are all other areas of the hotel. This is a family run hotel where nothing is too much trouble and everyone is made to feel so welcome. With fridge, T.V. and free air-con you want for nothing. The beach is at the end of the road and there are numerous excellent tavernas nearby. The Old Town is only a 5 to 10 minute walk away.
The best thing about this hotel is the attention to guests' well being and this is relected in the number of repeat visits. We look forward to experiencing once again the superb Astali hospitality.

What a fantastic hotel! This family run hotel was a delight to stay in, beautifully clean with fresh towels every day and everywhere was spotless. A simple breakfast was included with plenty of fresh coffee, Greek yoghurt, fruit, bread, honey, cheese, ham etc All very fresh and tasty. But the real treat here is the most warm welcome from the family which perpetuates throughout your stay, nothing is too much trouble. Perfectly placed near the lovely beach but quiet in the evenings; perfect.

We spent eleven days at the hotel Astali. When we came back from the beach, it felt like coming home. We had some nice chats with the staff. They were very kind, helpful and told us what places we HAD to visit. Every day the room was cleaned, and the breakfast was good (gotta love the Greece yoghurt)! The beach was very near to the hotel and in two minutes you were in the middle of Rethymnon. When we return to Crete, we would definitely return to Astali Hotel. Big shout out to the two brothers! I hope you 'light creation' is getting popular, haha!

Such a lovely family, the hotel is clean and immaculate at all times. We would recommend it to anyone, the welcome from the family is genuine and you are immediately made to feel you are among friends.

We chose this hotel because of the reviews we read. We can only endorse what has been already written. A wonderful welcome, a warm friendly atmosphere and attention to detail hard to match even in a 5 star hotel. Nothing was too much trouble. A friendly welcome each time we met the owners. The cleanliness was amazing. The breakfast were good with a buffet variety. The number of Cretans who used the hotel were many; a good sign if the locals use a place we felt. It's location close to the town was excellent meaning we could get around on foot very easily. The beach was wonderful with a variety of facilities available as waiter servcie from a beach bar. We fully intend to return in the future

Room Tip: All the room as identical so no real advantage to selecting any above another.

Just spent a week staying at the Astali. Thomson 'small and friendly' - and that's exactly what it was. The staff were kind, helpful and generous with their advice and knowledge of local restaurants and places to visit. Very important info about which harbour restaurants to avoid due to their 'pushiness' at wanting your custom - Zephyros is the one to visit. Everywhere neat and tidy. I had a single room but there was a nice balcony so I could sit out when I wanted.
One great plus is the shower room downstairs especially if you have an evening flight. Plenty of towels provided. Good location - near the beach as well as the old town. All in all a lovely week away in the sun.
