“A great family-run hotel. Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2011

Hotel Astali is situated perfectly..within walking distance to the beach (literally 3 minutes away), the old town, the marina, and the bus station, for when you want to go on day trips to Xania or Iraklio. It is close to a lot of the tour agencies and rental car agencies as well so arranging travel is quite convenient. The rooms were cleaned well everyday, breakfast was sufficient, although would have loved a bit of variety and some cold ham or salami maybe. The family running the hotel are very helpful and welcoming and made my entire stay very pleasant and personal. They let me borrow an umbrella and beach mat for my entire stay, which was very kind. The hotel is definitely good value for money, I'd recommend it to couples and solo travelers.

Room Tip: Hotel is on a busy road but the double glazing works well. Aircon+closed door=good night sleep. :-)

My wife and I have just returned from a ten day holiday at the Astali Hotel. We enjoyed our stay. The family that manage the hotel (sorry I can't remember your names), could not do enough for us. We were advised where the best restaurants were, where to go etc. The room was spotless and the towels and sheets were changed every day. We had a fridge and air conditioning (it was red hot!). The Hotel is a five minute walk from the beach and a ten minute walk from the "Old Town".

Room Tip: We kept the balcony doors close at night and put the air conditioning on as the traffic was noisy ou...

we had such a great time in Astali Hotel from every aspect...
the owners are very friendly (we even left our luggage after we checked out the last day, in order to have our walk in the city). The rooms are very clean, although a bit small. They even have their own "mini library" in the corridor with english and greek books which you can borrow.. Breakfast, comparing it to the room's price was ok. the only drawback is that internet access is not available to all rooms.
we would definitely go back to this hotel.. small and friendly!

Stayed there early this season for a couple of days but loved it. Will for sure return for more. Clean, friendly and centrally situated within walking distance of the beach, the shopping area and the old town. Breakfast is great value for money and bar prices are way better than beach front cafes and bars. Relaxing at the veranda after a long day at the beach is welcome and staff which is actually mainly the owning family are very polite, friendly and will go the extra mile to help you with anything they can.

A friendly, family run hotel with all the ammenities needed for a relaxing stay in Rhythimnon.
From the moment you arrive, Chrisanthe/Marios and Yannis are there to make you feel welcome and to give any advice needed. The rooms are spotless and serviced every day.
The lounge bar and breakfast room is well equiped and the reception is always manned.
200 yds to beach and a short walk on the prom to the old town centre.
We can't fault the Astali, we've been before and hopefully will be back again

Room Tip: A room on Papandreou St. has afternoon balcony sun

Having stayed in Crete several times and stayed at the Astali from May 12th--19th, we thought the hotel itself was fine regarding the cleanliness, towels were changed daily even on a sunday. The rooms were adequate size, fridge in room and satellite WI FI free, which came in useful. Staff were very helpful and friendly. I would certainly recommend this hotel, the only downside was the breakfast which was the same every day and was basic and little choice. It would have been nice to have had some fresh fruit / tomatoes and Feta cheese on some days, otherwise overall very pleasant.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor [ which we got ]
