“Best Hotel in Rethymno”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013 via mobile

This was our second time to Rethymno and the main reason for the return was this hotel. First time in May 2011 was the best holiday we'd had so we thought why go anywhere else for what we wanted - a relaxing trip away from our stressful lives.

Our second time did not disappoint! Apart from the great location right in the heart of the old town, this hotel ticks so many boxes for us. The staff are by far some of the nicest, warmest and funniest people we've met on our travels and can confidently say we will stay in touch for years to come. The hotel entrance and general area are lovely and the pool area is nice and relaxing if you just fancy a sit down in the sun. The rooms are lovely fitting in with the venetian style of the hotel with a few modern features and the air con works very well :-).

The restaurant and bar is one of the most relaxing and joyful places to sit and have a meal or a cheeky drink or two. Food is great and drinks are very generous.

I wasn't very well on this trip due to a virus and the staff could not be more helpful in making my stay comfortable - genuinely caring for my health.

This is somewhere we will come back to time and time again for a relaxing holiday.

From the moment we were met from the bus, right up until we walked out the front door on departure, this small, family run place never failed to impress. The staff, without exception, were amazing but, being terrible with names, unfortunately I have forgotten most of them.

I knew before we arrived that we could not be dropped off right outside the hotel and was expected to be just pointed in the right direction. But no, we were met by the hotel receptionist/concierge down by the sea front. He made us feel extremely welcome and had the most relaxing personality. Nothing was too much trouble, and his local knowledge great (even recommending a few competing restaurants for us to try).

Our suite on the first floor was spotlessly clean and although not the biggest in the world it was by no means small. Fantastically comfortable bed, tv, vanity table, mini bar, safe and for once, more than enough sockets to plug in hair-dryers, phone chargers etc. Maybe the only drawback with the room is that the vanity table is at right angles to the window and not all that well lit. And tea/coffee making facilities would have been nice..

The bathroom was also clean with a decent sized shower, and not one of those dribbly ones that you have to dance around under to get wet. There was also a good selection of grooming products (creams, shower gel, cotton buds etc). There were a couple of occasions when the drains could be smelt in the bathroom but Greece is not exactly known for having the world's best waste disposal.

I don't know what time the sun hit the balcony in the morning, but it stayed on it until around 7pm when it dropped behind the church down the road. In fact to call it a balcony is a bit harsh, it was more like a rooftop patio of somewhere around 10m2.

Breakfast was good and varied daily. No full English fry up but cereals, fruit, bread, pastries, meat and cheese were available daily along with tea, coffee and fruit juices. Plus each day there was something extra, like sausage and Spanish (Greek?) omelet, bacon and fried egg, or cheese and spinach parcels.

The hotels own restaurant is also very good with some absolutely fantastic dishes with twists on the menu. You must try the lamb mitato with honey! Again, the bar and restaurant staff were extremely warm and efficient but without ever being oppressive. Thanks folks.

And the swimming pool....... if your plan is to sit around the pool all day, this hotel is definitely not for you. The two sun loungers next to the pool probably take up more space than the pool itself. Having said that, apparently the pool has a current so that you can actually swim even though you won't actually go anywhere. I didn't try it though.

The beach is about a 15 minute slow stroll away but easily reached in 10 minutes if you want to. Chances are though it will take you much longer on the way back as you wander around the streets of the old town and stop at one of the many tavernas for a "rest"!

Very nice and relaxing hotel just in the center. Breakfast is average, there is no wireless in the rooms. The hotel stuff is very lovely and helpful. The noise isolation is a bit weak but normal for such an old building. İ would again stay there

Amidst the windy side streets is a beautiful respite of Palazzino di Corina. The owners were fantastically kind and welcomed me with smiles - exactly what I needed after 18 hours of travel. Rooms are comfortable and I like that all are unique. Roomy and clean, with peaks out the windows into life all around. The inner courtyard is a pleasant place to start the day with a cup of coffee and then wander into the town and seaside all around. A good value and classy respite.

Room Tip: Rooms with balcony would be preferred if you like fresh air. Otherwise hard to open the windows and...

We pushed the boat out to celebrate my retirement, and what a wonderful place to choose. This was the best hotel I have ever stayed at. There will be hotels with more facilities, bigger rooms, more luxurious features, but for me everything exceeded expectations. All the rooms are individually appointed, and to a very high standard. Ours could hardly have been more comfortable. Beautifully decorated and with some delightful details. Even the bathroom ceiling had a hand-painted mural of Greek gods! The small pool in the open courtyard was a joy! OK, only room for maybe two people to use in comfort, but it was perfect.

The rest of the hotel's general area was to the same high standard. Quality antique and period items at every turn. The breakfast room was spacious and charming. The buffet breakfast was extensive and imaginative, and the food of the highest quality. My wife and I being vegetarian are used to having to make do with a limited choice, but not here. There was plenty of choice for the meat eater too, all beautifully presented and regularly replenished by the excellent staff.

In fact all the staff were friendly and professional throughout our stay. They couldn't have done more for us. I feel as if I've made some friends there. Giorgos (George to everybody) the restaurant manager, was a charming and helpful man, professional at all times. Nothing was too much trouble, and he always had a smile and a friendly comment. Everybody, right up to the manager Apostolis, did their job in an efficient and friendly manner. It felt more like staying at a friends house than at a hotel.

The Corina Restaurant is part of the hotel, but available to non-guests too. The food is first class, with plenty of traditional Greek choices. If you just feel like a drink Giorgos will be happy to find you a table if you are a resident. On the Sunday of our visit there was traditional Greek dancing, and on the Wednesday there was music. Both were a nice extra addition to our stay.

The Palazzino di Corina is small but feels spacious, due to the careful and stylish way in which the original ancient and traditional building has been adapted to create a comfortable, elegant hotel. I cannot recommend the Palazzino too highly, and we very much hope to return to this very special place again some day. It has left us with some wonderful memories, and I was very sad to have to leave.

Room Tip: We chose a junior suite, and it was quiet and spacious enough for us both. I don't think there...

This hotel is in the heart of the old city of Rethymno. Is an old house fully restored. Is has fantastic rooms not very big for its price but with great decore. Although you cannot park in the old town of Rethymno the hotel is within walkin destance of the port parking. The owner Leonidas and George are very friendly and helpful. The price aren't low but it is a premium accommodation so it is ok.

Perfect setting in the old town, two minutes from the Venetian harbour, ten minutes from the beach. The food in the restaurant is excellent, we ate there three times during our two week stay, it might have been more, but for the huge choice of other excellent restaurants in the town. The food in all of them was excellent, and good value. Choices were good and portions were more than generous, we never went to bed hungry!
The Greeks are some of the most welcoming people in the world, and here is no exception, the manager and staff at The Palazzino di Corina could not do enough for us, we really felt like VIP's, our room (Cronos) was lovely, quiet and comfortable with efficient air-con, and plenty of hot water. The courtyard area with small pool was enchanting, a haven of tranquillity from the bustling town. I would heartily recommend this lovely hotel, and would return myself without hesitation.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter, those at the front do suffer from road noise. If like us...
