We have just returned from this hotel and I really cannot fault it. We booked a Junior Suite which comprised of a bedroom area with a flat screen tv and a sitting area with a sofa and yet another flatscreen. OK, we didn't use them as the only channels in English were world news, but it was a lovely room with a small fridge filled with complimentary water, soft drinks, chocolate and a bottle of wine. On arrival we also had a complimentary fruit bowl and a ton of peanuts!
Our 'patio' area was superb - we basically had a roof terrace with an almost 360 view - of the pool, sea and mountains behind the hotel. This was supplied with a table and chairs, two sun loungers and a sun brolly. We had room 756 - worth asking for! We also had plenty of privacy if sunbathing on the terrace as we were right at the end of the hotel and not overlooked by any other rooms, unlike one of the other suites which had a bed on the terrace - well overlooked by about 20 other rooms!
We stayed on a B&B basis but never went down for breakfast so could not comment on the food at the hotel. You really don't need to stay full board here - there are restaurants and bars on the doorstep which are not expensive and the Old Town is about 20-30 minute stroll along the seafront.
The hotel has two swimming pools, a small one at the front which is adults only - really good idea - and a larger one out the back with a pool bar and seating area.
We only had a couple of issues - with privacy! I was sunbathing on the terrace one morning and the gardener walked in to water the pots - didn't even look at me until I said good morning! Another couple of times we were getting ready to go out in the evening and we had one interruption from a maid who said our toilet (which was slow filling!) was keeping people awake downstairs and another time around 8pm she knocked and let herself in with a key asking if we wanted bin liners!! We did also get awoken on our last morning by someone on the roof carrying out maintenance but I don't think this is a regular occurrence. I do feel that a 'do not disturb' sign for the door would be very useful......
The room also was supplied with a kettle and tea and coffee every day. Most welcome as I always take my travel kettle with me when I go abroad.
The surrounding area is superb, plenty to do and see. The hotel is also about 5 mins walk from the main beach - which does get a bit busy, but if you walk further down in either direction you'll find quieter spots on the beach. There are many trips available from the all dayers to just an hour or so. We chose to take the bus tour and boat trip to the caves. Quite reasonably priced and only lasting an hour and a half each. But if you're into water sports this is the area for you!
Overall I would return to this hotel due to location and service. The staff are superb, very friendly and willing to help. One thing I would add is that if you do have one of the top suites, there are no lifts so if you're not good with steps, I would request a room which is serviced by a lift. However, the hotel does arrange for your luggage to be taken up and down so that is not such a problem.
