My husband and I just happened to stumble across the Melody Garden restaurant while trying to find our way out of the maze of winding streets and alleys in Rethymnon.
We were ready for drinks after wandering aimlessly, trying to gain our bearings but were persuaded by the "Greeter" to stay for our evening meal and I'm so pleased we did.
We were taken into the garden which was pretty, relaxing and well lit and there were plenty of other diners who seemed to be enjoying their evening meal.
To start, we each had a Greek salad which was lovely and one portion would have been more than ample for both of us.
For our main course we both chose the "Boar in several wines" and it was beautiful, full of flavour with plenty of meat that was so moist and tender.
When we asked for the bill, we were offered a free desert or fruit which we declined as we couldn't have eaten any more.
I was really impressed with the food and the service and would definitely return when we go back to Crete, providing we can find it again but I can recommend it if you want a good quality, peaceful evening meal.
