“Fabulous service and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

We had a very nice lunch here, lots of extras included in the very reasonable price. Service is very friendly. Staff are not as pushy as some of the nearby restaurants. Probably one of the best meals we have had here.

“Worst eating experience in Rethymnon”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

Firstly, the food was really bad: the chicken was so cold and dry, even the cat we gave it to had a hard time chewing it. Ok, maybe chicken is not their speciality but still, how can it be so incredibly dry?? They obviously don't have to make much effort with the food: since the harbour is so full of tourists, customers will always be coming.
Secondly, the service: upon your arrival, the waitress opens a small bottle of water and pours it down your glass, then quickly sticks a plate of garlic bread on your table. Since you didn't ask for any of it, you might think it's complimentary but it isn't: 4 euros altogether. I really hate this practise of shoving food/drinks down your throat and then charging you for it. This is just so annoying: in most authentic Cretan restaurants, not only is the bread and water on the house, but sometimes they also offer you a small desert (such as yogurt with honey, or honey pie) and local liquor at the end of your meal. This place displays no such hospitality.
At the end of a very bad meal, they brought us a hefty bill and we noticed that on top of that they tried to charge us for water we didn't drink. Then we were almost kicked out of our table to make space for the people waiting to be seated.
A pretty awful experience that makes you feel like a dupe. Do yourself a favour and avoid this tourist trap: instead, go to Kyria Maria, a few minutes away from there, where you will experience authentic Cretan cuisine, quiet setting away from the hords of tourists, lovely service, very decent price and freebies at the end of the meal.

“All aspects GREAT!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

As said before, great view, great service, lively host with a little stringed instrument that he played for the tables, and food was SOLID! My husband and i split the fresh fish special (I believe 50 euro for us both) which included house wine, bread, salad, potato, rice, fresh fish, and dessert. Quite a deal for the area and the fish was so fresh!

Our hotel wouldn't recommend any of the waterfront spots, but this was the only one that they did. Seemed less touristy than the rest.

highly recommend. Be sure to call ahead and request a table right on the water for extra effect!
