Probably my 6th visit to this restaurant over the last 3 years and I keep returning as the food is so good! The staff are friendly and helpful, the seating not too tightly packed in, sit until you're ready to go. The restaurant itself is in the Old Town by the Rimindi Fountain and feels a bit like one of those awful tourist spots where the waiters vie for your custom. But actually, it's a restaurant that IS worth your custom!
Our favourite meal is the lamb in yoghurt, and also the pork agrimia in a basil and peppercorn cream sauce. The couvert (bread basket) is served with 3 delicious pate/dips; the mains are generous portion sizes; the desserts are delicious; and there's always watermelon and raki to complete your meal.
The menu is large and extensive (it's in a lot of languages!) but don't be put off. This is a Cretan family owned and run restaurant and the cretan food is absolutely delicious. I'm sure the variety on offer caters for different nationalities, picky children in particular! (though I didn't see one dish come out to other tables that looked unappetising so take your pick).
Next time I'm in rethymno, I'll be revisiting once again. I'll be having couvert, tzatziki, apakia, zucchini fritters, and the Lamb in yoghurt (or maybe that delicios park!)
