We stayed at Mikes from 26th June for two weeks, we choose this hotel because of the reviews we had read and I can confirm first hand how wonderful it is. It was everything we expected and more Sophia, Manos, Mama, Mike and all the staff are the friendliest we have ever met and leaving bought a tear to my eye. This hotel deserves a 3 star not the 2 it currently has. We stayed in the hotel which is a short walk down to the apartments and pool area. The whole hotel is well kept and everyone works so hard to maintain it. If you want a holiday with that personal touch and a relaxing time give it a go you won't be disappointed :&)

Room Tip: The apartments are nearer to the pool, pool bar and beach than the hotel which are a little more mod...

We stayed in June 2012 after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. Very pleased with our choice. We had Apartment 308 on the top floor and a view to the sea. The apartment was kept spotlessly clean by the maid, it was very spacious, well maintained and had comp air-con.

Manos and Sophie are very friendly and hard working. The swimming pool is a good size and there are always plenty of sun loungers (Even some on the opposite side of the very very quiet road on the grass next to the beach).

If you are looking for a good small hotel in Crete in a quietish small resort then I would definitely recommend Mike's.

Room Tip: Go for an apartment/studio rather than a room in the hotel. Request accommodation with a balcony ra...

Stayed in the apartments for two weeks self catering. Lovely weather , superb pool and excellent owners and staff (especially the cleaners to whom we gave a very good gratuity) .Our apartment was one furthest from sea and on third floor.Still had excellent views and very comfortable beds and quiet aircon. The lift was also welcome for anyone with disabilities.
Only small criticism would be the worn sunloungers which were in any event uncomfortable. The bartender in the adjoining hotel is very noisy and irritating to the point where people were going to the Wave taverna next door to get further away from him ! Their sunloungers , by the way, were very comfortable !
The food in the hotel is ok but the adjoining hotels better by a margin. The best food is at the Black Lantern. The bar snacks were fine the beer good!

Room Tip: Upper rooms a must for privacy

I have a personal policy of never visiting the same hotel twice, but I'm considering making an exception and going back to Mike's next year! All the good reviews were spot on. I can't believe it was so cheap. The hotel and grounds are immaculate and the staff are so friendly. The location is perfect, right on the beach but not far from the main road if you want to leave town. The pool bar was great to visit at night - the pool is illuminated with colour changing lights and the bar serves a delicious selection of cocktails and snacks! For a "proper" meal, visit the hotel restaurant where you can enjoy Greek specialties - made with ingredients grown on site! - with a pretty view of the sunset and the sea over the fields. Our room - 307 in the apartments - was lovely and spacious with self-catering facilities (which didn't get used at all because the food in the restaurant and nearby bar, Wave, was so great) and a HUGE balcony with a lovely view of the sea and gardens. Everything is accessible for wheelchairs/pushchairs and there is hardly any noise except for the sea crashing on the beach. A perfect holiday for those seeking peace and quiet!

Room Tip: In the apartments - ask for the top floor - room numbers starting with 3 (there is a lift!) for a be...

Just returned from a June break with husband and daughter and knocked out by MIke's Apartments from before we arrived until we left (more on this later!). I chose MIke's based largely on the fantastic Tripadvisor reviews and can honestly say that these are very accurate Couldn't wait to add my own review but worried that if more people discover this delightful place it will always be booked up!!

I took a reviewers advice and emailed Manos (Mike's son) before we arrived asking for an apartment with sea views but not too sunny. Although a first time visitor, we were given the very best apartment (top floor 301) with 2 balconies to choose from - one always sunny - one shady and facing straight out to sea. We were near reception adn the bar but never heard any noise. There are lifts so being on the 2nd floor is no problem and there are ramps everywhere making this choice ideal for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

The apartment was spacious, immaculate and very well equipped with TV with dvd , dining table, kettle, toaster and cleaning equipment - a clean tea towel every day and the all important ice cube tray and even a powerful haridryer. Everything was clean and kept clean by hard working cleaning staff. My daughters sofa bed was made up everyday and our nightdresses and pyjamas made into shapes. Separate (free) aircon in bedroom and lounge was a bonus and safe deposit box was only 8 euros.
The family provide excellent service, as nothing is too much touble - we broke a shower head and it was replaced in about 2 hours!. Manos was available for local advice when needed.

Nice civilised atmosphere around the pool and in the bar - just nice background music and quiet TV - Euro foorball was on but you would not know unless you sat at the bar to watch. One warning - watch the free vitamins with each drink - my husband was wiped out by these one day!.

People who have moved to the area or who rented houses for the summer regularly pop into Mikes a few times a week and say they have been coming there for years as it is so nice.

There is free internet in the bar and good wifi access if you need to keep in touch.

We ate in the hotel restaurant which had great views from the balcony over the sea and you can watch the sunsets - brilliant. Meals are good but portions are massive - we ended up sharing dishes.

Lastly, as we reached Chania airport, I thought I had left my jacket in the apartment and emailed Manos who checked an replied almost immediately - that is what I call service.

I have no idea why is this property's rateing is only 2 star and 2T+ with Thomson but it does get the Overall Gold Award in this category which is well deserved.

Room Tip: Call in advance and request what you need in your studio/room/apartment. They will always try to ac...

The most outstanding quality of Mikes is the feeling of being valued for more than just being a client. From day 1 Sophie and her family make you truly welcome. The hotel is extremely well run spotlessly clean and well maintained.Everything works, aircon, shower, hot water toaster, lights, fridge, coffee machine and the beer is cold unlike some 5* hotels we have visited!! Bedroom (13) top floor, balcony, sea view, aircon fridge small bathroom big sink!! Cleaned daily towels and bedding changed twice weekly.
Meals all served on pristine white table cloths either inside or on the terrace.Breakfast self service consisted of excellent coffee pots of tea, juices, tost ,bread, eggs, ham, cheese, tomatoes, yoghurt, cereals, fruit jams & honey.Dinner local Cretan fare prepared by Sophies mum.Always a daily special +a la carte+wine all very reasonably priced, vitamins(raki or ouzo!!) to follow.
Pool Well maintained, plenty loungers, great bar, cold beer,4 pages of cocktails and excellent friendly service from Manos and the girls.Lots of vitamins on offer!!
Beach Pebbly crystal clear water but you need shoes to get in,I used crocs they make great paddles!!
Walking We did 5 organised walks whilst at Mikes.See my review Trip Advisor Kissamos Things to Do Strata Tours.
Buses Right outside hotel to all north west resorts between Chania & Kissamos
Our sincere thanks to all at Mikes(Mike is Sophies dad and is i/c weather forecast!)who made our stay in Crete so very special Alan & Breeda

Room Tip: Top floor Sea facing

We returned to Crete after 20 years, bringing our 18 year old daughter, showing her why we loved it so. We had a studio apartment which was very spacious. Only problem that we all had to share was my husbands' snoring! The rooms were left clean each day, fresh towels and tidied. The apartments are close to the sea, so you could go for a dip and then relax around the poolside. Manos, his family and staff were always very friendly and made sure that we had our 'vitamins'! Hotel bar at night and bar adjacent was great fun and our daughter made friends quickly with other hotel guests. A safe environment for young people. Places to eat: the Wave along the road, Black Lantern and Albatros Hotel to be found on main road. We found our hotel that we stayed in all those years ago (no longer accepting English people) but so happy we found Mikes and hopefully return another time.
