“Greeta budget Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Been for the 2nd time now for a week and what a great place to chill out and relax .Staff very friendly and the accommodation while basic is very good and you cannot beat if for the price .My apartment was very large and had a balcony (view of sea) .This complex has a bar and a small restaurant (bar beside the pool very handy ) and also free WiFi which was very very handy as always turn off data roaming on mobile due to extortionate roaming charges .There is a large range of restaurants very close and the sea is 5 mins walk away with a very nice but quiet walkway. If you want noise and clubbing don't go here as it is more about relaxing and eating good food.Only downside is no hot water first thing in morning as all solar heated .There is a small kitchenette which is suitable for drinks and basic breakfast , but if you don't feel like cooking go to poolside and eat there .What more can you expect for about £60 per week

Room Tip: try to go early or late season as not many people and helps out hotel fill rooms .Also try Black lan...

It's a wonderful family run hotel perfect for every kind of holiday - with family, with kids, with friends, even solo. The rooms are clean and comfortable with tiny but sufficient bathroom and kitchenette (which has all you need to prepare a simple dinner or breakfast). Everything in the hotel was working just fine and the room was cleaned every single day - linen and towels were changed regularly. The restaurant downstairs offers some local specialties and FANTASTIC breakfast in affordable prices (I'd even say - low prices:) ). The beach close to the hotel (about 50m) isn't very nice (Stones make it hard to relax and there is no bathroom or shower on the beach), but if you rent a car (in Platanias there is a cheap car rental - Kappa) you can find some beautiful sandy beaches in 50km range, which gives you a great opportunity to visit some local villages and drink frappe on the way. I'm sure I'm going to visit Ledra hotel again this year - if, of course, there will be any apartment free for autumn. Also - Crete is most beautiful in May - it isn't to hot, it's colourful and not too crowded:) And in the end mr Antonis Platinakis is a fantastic man. Most cheerful helpful and easygoing guy I met in a long time. He's in the hotel from early morning hours till late evening dealing with every problem or request you may have, keeping company etc:)

Room Tip: all rooms are equally nice :)

Just returned from a relaxing week in Crete. Stayed in Maleme at the Ledra and found the studio apartment to be just fab. Very clean, plenty of space for two people and good comfortable beds.
It also had a very good range of kitchen appliances. Two ring cooker, toaster, kettle and full sized fridge with cutlery/crockery for 3 people. Towels and sheets changed once during the week and they even supply a tea towel. Most impressed with the shower though as it had shower doors!!
The food at the hotel is good and we ate there a couple of times. However, go to Albatross for EXCELLENT food and great value for money.
Areas surrounding the apartments have a lot of cockerels so be prepared to be woke up very early in the morning.

We visited the Ledra last year, spending one week in the North of the island, and going south to Agia Galini for the second.
Our room was basic, but large, light and spacious. We had 2 rings and basic equipment for cooking. There was a few places around to eat - all offering local specialities. But the hotel did great food itself - in fact, after mentioning our love of it, the chef spent all day especially cooking us a squid stifado!! Delish! They have a weekly bbq, which was excellent value and great fun!
The staff left us to our own devices, no hassle at all - but were very helpful when we needed them! We knew a little Greek, which went down a treat! And we spent a few nights being treated to their family hospitality - great fun!
The hotel itself is in a quiet little town, which seems to have been in the middle of expansion. Not the place to go if you want to party! But it was super easy to catch a bus to nearby towns. 2 local supermarkets, a great bakery and an amazing Gyros joint!
A 50euro taxi from the airport but if we'd have investigated better - an easy bus journey!
We would have happily stayed there our two weeks - I can't tell you how welcome we were made to feel! Would recommend and visit again!

Booked the Ledra Maleme with Olympic holidays as accommodation only for 2 weeks in October 2012.The two bedroom apartment was spacious and comfortable with a large balcony to the front facing the pool with a smaller balcony to the side with a view over the olive groves. All the staff were extremely friendly and obliging and we would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone visiting the western side of Crete.Maleme was quite quiet as it was late in the season but the excellent bus service to the busier resorts of Platanias and Agia Marina and the main town of Chania meant that there was always an alternative to the pool.If anyone hasn't visited the western side of Crete before then if you have the opportunity give it a try.You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: We were allocated apartment 27 which is on the first floor overlooking the pool.Excellent.
