“the disgrace of Greece and Crete”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

Dont dont ever go there. Everything is substandard and the manager is an agressive psychopath!
All in is all out really, bathroom with moulds, rooms with cockroaches, matresses with staines of all kinds of nature. Yuk. Steep descent and climb to beach, Canteen food, dirty swimming pool

aircondition no working in the july. Room is very dirty and cockroaches crawl on walls in the night. Feel the smell of the bathroom, rooms need renovation,as long time not renewed(+-20 years). The same breakfast every day (scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, mortadela from Lidl.) Not worth coming here definitely advise against.

I have visited this hotel last year. I changed my booking to this hotel due to better ranking and it ruined my holidays.
Firstly the hotel looks nothing like the photos. When we requested to see the rooms, they were dirty and there was no air-conditioning which as you can imagine can be very inconvenient under 35 degrees of Celsius. The owner hasn't invested any money since the hotel was built..I would reckon more than 15-20 years ago.
Secondly, as we were exhausted we decided to stay for the night and look for another hotel the day after, and luckily we only paid for a night.
The rooms were appalling, worn out sheets, the bathroom was a disgrace. The toilet stunk, I don't even know how we manage to stay for a day.
The bartender was very friendly and I think apart from the kitchen staff he was the one who was doing everything in the hotel.
Finally, be aware that they sell beers from Lidl and cheap soda drinks for the price of the branded ones.
I would not recommend this hotel and especially at the prices that I've seen at booking.com. You should pay maximum £20. A hostel in central London is far better.
Ierapetra has many nice hotels, same or even cheaper prices and definitely CLEANER.
Just like Varna 52 said go to Greece but not to this hotel.

Room Tip: No good rooms

We have just returned from our holiday at this hotel. This was one of the most relaxing holidays i have had. The hotel is very clean, the food was good, with plenty to go round. We had a hire car and Andreas the owner was very helpul in suggesting places to visit, which resulted in some great days out If you like a relaxing holiday with fantastic beaches, but without the loud music this hotel is well worth the drive from Heraklion. Very enjoyable stay made so by the owner and thoughtful staff who could not do enough to help. Will Definately be visiting again but for longer next time.

We are a mature couple who enjoy a quieter holdiay.
The hotel was very clean and the food was fantastic a different menu every night for our 2 week stay. Owner spoke english and was able to suggest places to visit which were not the typical tourist places. In our stay there was a Greek night put on which was entertaining for all. If you are into walking there are lots of long and short walks. The beach is just across the road from the hotel which is sheltered as it is a bay where there are three taverners.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we are returning later this year.

I would like to agree with review of junyma77, this hotel plays with words about its name in bookings, and not only that. BEWARE.If you are dissatisfied with the terrible surroundings, they will claim that you booked at the 'whatsoever' called name and not the hotel eden rock, but it is on the booking options of the hotel.
When you go there, it is not what you booked in the photos, toilet smells badly, poor surroundings not worthy the price, broken stuff, pillows like stone, stuff that seems terrified for its work, you feeling like an idiot of being deceived. If you want to early leave at the obligatory couple days as the Greek law says, make sure you will not be overcharged from the booking site policy.Greeks have law for that, compare it to the policy of your booking, which may be violating the law.

You would better make a search at other Ierapetra accomodation, even go there without having booked, sure you will find something.
Go to Greece, but not to this hotel, I often go to Greece, this thing I had never encountered

Room Tip: Just pick another hotel

Old world hotel staffed by charismatic manager and thoughtful staff. Very serene location within 500 metres of beach - perfect if you want to just read, laze, paint or write. Great for kids too - no loud music or garish hotels.
Good quality food. Well worth the mammoth trip from Heraklion!

Room Tip: Mail the manager directly rather than leave your tour agent negotiate everything
