I stayed at the Lamb inn back in Oct 09 for my wedding night! I was so pleased i chose this inn as the room was stunning. We decided to go back there for our first wedding anniversary at the weekend and it was just as amazing as i remember it! This time though we dined and the food was magnificent! It was one of the nicest dinners i have ever had. Everything was perfectly cooked and well presented at a really good price. The drinks were cheap to! Its not common to get a glass of wine for £2.50 these days! The service was warm and friendly and the pub has a very cosy atmosphere! Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated. We had a bath in the main bedroom next to a little log burner (Very romantic) and the bed was so comfy! It also had a seperate bathroom with shower which was superb! They also had a live band on that evening and they were brilliant, it was so nice to see so many people dancing, the atmosphere was incredible! We said last year that we would come back every year on our anniversary but after our last stay i don't think i can wait that long! Will probably make it a monthly visit! I'd reccomend this to anyone looking for good food or a perfect night away! And at the prices they charge its definately worth every penny!

We have just returned from a two night stay at this fabulous pub. Our room was spacious and well furnished with a wonderful shower. The pub was very popular with locals of all ages and friendly staff with a toasty fire and plentiful newspapers. Our evening meals were chosen from a small but locally sourced menu and very well priced. The food is served in the pub and not a separate dining room which we liked so we could see what was going on and enjoy the atmosphere. The wine choice represented amazing value for money - we could not believe how such great wine was so reasonably priced. The breakfasts are great and set you up for your sightseeing, shopping or walking. We thought the landlord had it spot on with atmosphere, price, rooms and conviviality and certainly one of the best we have stayed in.

Run by its owners, the service in this country inn is excellent: friendly and at the same time professional.
The room was of the highest standard with a clean, modern design - all recently done.
The food at dinner was delicious and special, in particular the meringue pudding. Breakfast was of the same high standard.
Sandford is a charming village, 10 minutes from Crediton. We went for a lovely country walk and then continued cycling towards Exeter.

Fantastic pub downstairs, large open fire (lit even in May!), newspapers provided, comfy chairs and tables, but all very informal and welcoming. Proper old pub feel to it, autheniic shabby chic, and plenty of locals dropping in. Staff were amazing here, very hospitable and nothing too much trouble. We were the first to stay in one of the new rooms in the 'annexe', it was brand newly decorated so immaculate. It was compact, lovely beamed room, very comfortable bed, large shower in the littel en suite. The only thing missing was any storage for clothes (on order apparently). The kitchen area was between the annex and our entrance to the pub and proved a bit noisy early in the morning but not a major issue. Great full breakfast with as much coffee and toast as required. We will definitely return here, perfect for a cosy winter break or a summer break with easy access to countryside or coast. Outstanding value - both food and accommodation. Loved it.

Stayed here as an overnight stopover on the way to Cornwall. Loved every aspect of it. Entering the pub is perhaps a bit disconcerting as it is [deliberately as it turns out] an archetypically shabby chic, vintage, local dating back probably to the Georgian era. Do not be deceived by that or the vague air of amiable chaos that stems from the staff being indistinguishable from the customers. This is a delightful, imaginatively conceived place run by really nice people.
The first surprise are the bedrooms which are so different to the bar that they could appear bizarre; however their tasteful modernity was spot-on and it was surprising how much comfort and facility had been grafted on to what is essentially a very basic old rural building. The food was less of a surprise. Although some sources might identify this as a gastropub it lacked much of the pretension which has come to be associated with the term. The food was excellent and certainly modern in its conception and presentation but it didn't fall prey to the obsession with refinement and the portions were generous. My wife raved about her scallops and I, more prosaically, thought the chips were as good as they could be. Breakfast lived up to the standard of the night before; generous provision, good quality all served efficiently and unobtrusively.
However though we thought all this was great value for money what left us most impressed was the human side of the place. Everyone we dealt with was amiable, personable and forthcoming. We would certainly consider going back and recommend it unreservedly to any other prospective punters. Oh and if you feel like a night in a bustling old-fashioned village local with good real ale [and decent house wines] and plenty of conversation plus some formal entertainment in the adjacent cinema/function room [a comedian was on the night we were there] this might also be for you.
All-in-all from our perspective a triumph.

The usual guide book lead me here on my way to St ives. limited parking so be careful.
Briliant rooms with mineral water and hospitality tray. Beds were wonderfully soft. short menu .. but what there was turned out to be very good. A little bit of local swearing in the bar on arrival which I thought was a shame, A long stare seemed to sort that out....but sure enough...the publican cant be blamed, although ... she was involved in the conversation. Was quoted eighty five pounds on booking but was informed the rate had gone up and I may have to pay ninety five.....er...No. the bill apart from that , was dead on
That aside I would definately recommend this place as one of the best I have stayed at.
