Hard to imagine the staff being more helpful or friendly. Beach location superb, but a bit away from much anything else. Food pretty good with a wide choice and generally very fresh - maybe got a bit tired towards the end, but it was end of season (hotel closed the day after we left). Rooms more than, but not much more than, basic, but perfectly adeqaute, and why would you spend any time there anyway in summer.

We stayed at Mareblue Neptuno for four nights as part of our Air Transat package. We arrived late and the front desk staff told us to come back to the dining room after we had got settled and they would have some supper for us. We had upgraded our room to a seaview, which was very nice, but our room was quite small, but really didn't worry about it too much as we came to Crete to see part of the island and not our room! The hotel is all-inclusive and the food was delicious and so much choice. We were only there for lunch one day as we rented a car and went to Matala and made a trip through the mountains to Spill and Rethymnon which was very enjoyable. We took the bus into Herkalion and went to the market in the square and walked down to the water and had a nice fish lunch near the water. The staff at Mareblue Neptuno were very pleasant and accommadating and we enjoyed a very pleasant stay.

Just returned from 10 days at the Mareblue Neptuno Beach hotel. I agree with most of the comments from others. The hotel is quite basic, such as no full length mirror only beds with no little pictures or small touches. There is only a tired bath with a shower curtain, the shower gell is in a container fitted to the wall. However it has everything you will need, i.e. a reasonable hairdryer, small fridge, beach towels changed every other day (deposit of 10 euros). We were on the ground floor having requested a larger room with no steps. The staff were all very helpful and the food was plentiful, you would be bored with it after a week though. Sea was very close and we never saw any black spiney thingies!! Pool was cold but it was October. All in all it was good value as an all inclusive oh and the white wine was drinkable!! The hotel was closing for the winter on the 19th but we were told it had been sold to the Zeus group???

Room Tip: Rooms higher up gave you a much better view of the sea and the mountains to the left side

On arrival we were little confused since we got off the bus at one narrow street and we're supposed to walk till the end to the hotel. But in the daylight it's very nice hotel well designed so even where there is plenty of tourists, you don't feel like you are in overcrowded place. The rooms need a bit of refurbishment, especially the bathroom but overall it's a good place. Nearby is the bus stop to Heraklion, car rentals, etc.
good place for both all inclusive relaxing holiday as well as for active one.

Rooms are ok everything else is very good food, pool, beach and staff the entertainment is a little poor so that means at least it isn't in your face but that suited us as we met some great people, relaxed and had fun. Felt very safe for kids.
Tips:
Take some sea shoes for sea urchins !
Find the doughnut man on the beach !

Room Tip: pay extra for sea -side room or face alley way !

On arrival I thought "bloody hell", then the coach drops you on the main street and you have to carry your luggage to the hotel approximately 100 yards but at the hotel reception I realised it was ok. The room was not as good as I expected it to be for what we paid but it was adequate and clean. Nice big balcony overlooking the sea, brilliant food, brilliant staff always really busy and helpful. Not a big pool but adequate enough as take just 2 steps and you're on the amazing beech with a sea safe to swim in. Animation, lovely people, but no entertainment to speak of, a couple of theme nights weekly and disco music every evening but fair to say very few up dancing. Nothing to speak of locally, a few shops and bars but no local colour. A very cheap bus journey to Iraklion to get to the busy center of town. Would go back again but not as a first choice.,Seems to be a favourite destination of eastern europeans, I would have preferred a wider cultural mix.

Room Tip: Second floor side wing has a great sea view
