“Elounda Heights was a great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

We had a great time in Elounda and were really grateful we'd picked Elounda Heights. Honestly, I can't believe how affordable it is for the service and location we experienced. The pool & bar area and many of the rooms have a stunning views. It's about three blocks from town (I'll grant you, it's basically two blocks straight up a steep incline, but still a very short walk). The owners were really great, helped us book some plane tickets when we couldn't get it done on our own. Bar was fun and often lively, though we spent most evenings in town.

We stopped at a couple resorts on our way out of Elounda just to have lunch or a drink, and really they seemed very isolated, we were glad we'd stayed where we did. (Whereas in Mykonos we stayed in a resort and it seemed just fine.)

As other reviewers mentioned, the hospitality of the owners of Elounda Heights is five star! Vangelis and Ann made us very welcome. Deborah also looked after us well and I very much enjoyed the Pilates. The boat trip and the barbecue night got to be the highlights of the holiday. We normally would like to keep ourselves to ourselves, but on this holiday we met lots of lovely friendly people, other guests staying at EH. Lastly, a special thank you to Natalia for picking me up from the airport.

As an avid reader of TA reviews I have learnt to take the praise and criticsm of the contributors with a pinch of salt. This was the same for us when we arrived at Elounda Heights as the praise is universally great. Well its the same from us I'm afraid. This place is great. We stayed for one week and as 'newbies' found ourselves in a 50/50 mix of returnees. I have read in one review that you may be made to feel slightly left out in this case. This most certainly was not the case for us. Yes there may be a bit of 'Lantern swinging' but these people are true friends and have known each other for many years. I found it genuinely heart warming. The boat trip is great fun and as it was our first day was an ideal icebreaker. The BBQ was great fun with especially enjoyable contributions from 'The Dulverton Massive'. I truly detest Status Quo but I will never be able to listen to them again without thinking of this night! The hosting of Ann, Vangelis and Deborah is fantastic. (Natalia was away during our stay). Vangelis is a true champion. He starts at 5.30 in the morning, man's the bar in the morning, cooks breakfast and lunch service, takes a break at 4 then prepares and cooks the evening meals before joining us all in the bar. He then does it all again - every day. To work so hard and maintain such high standards is nothing short of amazing. The rooms are spotlessly clean and well appointed - not luxurious but more than enough for a holiday stay. One criticism here. Our daughter slept on a camp bed with a very thin mattress. I feel a more substantial and comfortable roll out type bed would be a good move especially as rooms with more than two beds are limited. To all the new friends we made Thanks for a great time.To all at Elounda Heights congratulations.

Room Tip: All rooms have great views those on the first floor will give a marginally better view at the cost o...

We were a party of four who stayed for ten days, wished it was ten weeks. Very friendly, Vangelis and Anne welcome you and they offer great food, comfortable and clean apartments and fab pool. You don't have to go down to the village if you don't want to as all is here. The hill down to the village is a bit steep and it took us just over five minutes to walk up. We went to Elounda for a couple of night but stayed with Vangelis mainly as his cooking is good and reasonably priced and they offer a very friendly welcome. Air conditioning, safe and tv was included. We are thinking of coming back as many of the people we met there already do.

Just returned from a fabulous week staying at Elounda Heights. Stunning views, delightful hosts and splendid first class facilities ( lovely pool setting with food and drinks on tap all day, attractive bar and restaurant, wi fi etc) all added up to a perfectly chilled and utterly enjoyable week in Crete. Vangellis ( what a charmer!) and Anne are justly proud of their Cretan oasis and I defy anyone to find better value for money accomodation elsewhere in lovely Elounda. Yes - the walk up the hill burns off a few calories but the view from your room will more than compensate it. Most of our fellow guests had stayed at Elounda Heights on multiple occasions and although we prefer a new experience for each holiday we manage to squeeze in - if I fancied another break in Crete I'd be sorely tempted to return .......

Spent 16 glorious days at Elounda Heights. What a place to be. The accommodation is situated just above the village of Elounda. Just a short walk down the hill to a delightful village with many bars and restaurants. Must admit that we did not use the village restaurants much as the owner Vangelis created the most wonderful food at the pool bar at lunch-times and in the in-house restaurant in the evenings. The accommodation was excellent (no complaints) with a spectacular view over the Mirabella Bay. One can eat, drink and swim without leaving the complex which we did on many days. We found all the staff extremely helpful and nothing was to much trouble.
The Meze & Barbecue (with Disco) and Boat trip arranged by the owners was excellent fun and good valve. There even was an impromptu dance night in the bar where all the fellow holiday-makers let their hair down and returned to their disco days led by Debroah the dance queen. (member of staff). Photo attached.
Will be booking early for 2013.

What a wonderful holiday we have had.Thank you to Vangellis Anne and Debroah who made us feel so welcome. We went to Elounda Heights for the first time with our 15 year old son and we all had a very relaxing holiday. The food was fantastic, Vangelis is a fabulous cook. The meze night was great fun and a good way to sample some traditional greek food. We also did the boat trip which was the highlight of our holiday. The day was great fun and yet more wonderful food. The veiws are stunning and we met some great people who are frequent visitors to Elounda Heights. Its only a five minute walk into Elounda where there are plenty of shops. Its a great place to go to and we would highly recomend it to everyone. We had such a great time that we are very much hoping to visit again next year. A wonderful place with wonderful people and a wonderful veiw.
