“Average but amazing staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2011

Stayed here for our honeymoon. The hotel was like a all inclusive resort. Everything youneeded was on site, grounds were very pretty but large. Evevator to get to beach brome numerous times while there. The restaurants were below average and very pricey. Rooms were nice. What makes this place is its convenience. Your i greece tho, i dont think this hotel lets you know that, missing charm. You dont want to be trapped in a hotel not seeing the country! This hotel is near the town but not walking distance. While the staff is top notch and the grounds aree amazing, i would recommend staying in a more quaint hotel for the experience rather then a place you can find in mexico or jamaica. Our first half of the stay in crete we were at the elounda mare which was a phenominal experience and unforgettable.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels imaginable, both the rooms and the common areas. Aesthetics aside, however, the walls are a bit thin so you can near neighbors' chairs scraping the floor. Fortunately, most guests are quiet and considerate.

The restaurants are very good, though it's nice to leave the property sometimes and venture, e.g., to Agios Nikolaos.

The staff are friendly, though housekeeping is spotty. There was a security breach when during turndown service the maid left the door wide open and was nowhere to be seen when we returned to our room.

The anti-mosquito gizmo emits a chemical that can produce a mild headache. If you unplug it, everything is fine and there are no mosquitoes.

A word about the funicular, which some say is slow. The maximal wait is four or five minutes. That's no worse than the subway back home ... and it's a good deal pleasanter than commuting to work :-)

Awful hotel, standard rooms piled high one on top of the other, not a suite hotel....large impersonal resort.
Staff were rude...unwilling to help withsimple requests....hated it...stay at Domes of Elounda instead much better hotel and same stunning location

We Are returning from 4 days at blue palace. This resort has everything needed to relax (and more) and a very high level of service. They upgraded our room to one of their best suites (also thanks to Amex) and in 4 days we could totally relax with beautiful sea, spa, a very good Greek and Asian restaurant and a huge number of pools. Only weak spot is the position which requires costly transfers to the other parts of Crete if you want to visit monuments or eat out (taverns in Plaka, at walking distance were surprisingly expensive) but you cannot have everything and blue palace even exceeded our expectations.

My new wife and myself stayed at the Blue Palace for 5 days as a part of our Honeymoon. The location is fantastic and we generally experienced excellent customer service. Checkin went smoothly and our bags were delivered to our room. We were upgraded to a room with a pool, which was lovely yet very cold as others have mentioned. In my mind the pool was more for the view. Our room was the closest to the road. The downside to this is that it can be a little noisy when the sliding door is open. You however don't really see the road due to a decorative wall. The plus side is that you are closet to the beach. Looking out over your pool you can almost touch it. You also do not have to use the lift very much which can be very slow. Being on the bottom level you can quickly walk to a few restaurants the pool, the spa and the beach. You only have to use the lift to get to reception and the top bars. That can be a little annoying the lift did break a few times while we where there and the process of how the lift works can take a while at peak periods. I will say that when the lift was broken we had no trouble at all getting a ride on a golf cart. We used the spa a few times and were very impressed. The restaurants seemed very expensive, the food however was great. The good thing is that you are only a sort walk from Plaka a small village so you can decide for yourself what price and level of service you want with each meal. Overall we felt like this was an excellent hotel.

The hotel was in an incredibly beautiful location. There were many restaurants on the resort, and we particularly enjoyed the Blue Door on the beach. The "private" pool for our room was very cold, but it was still nice to have it available.

Spent two week here during August with my family. The hotel is truly good, has a fantastic location and is well designed. The rooms are large and have a fantastic view of the bay.
The beach is very nice, with a large saltwater pool which is great (NB: the beach is made of large pebbles, but it has wooden paths to ensure you can get to/from anywhere without hurting your feet, also the sea is beautiful).
Two issues why it does not get a 5 rating:
- To reach the beach from the reception (and most rooms) you use a small cable car/funicular. When the hotel is full this means you need at times to queue.
- More importantly the beach staff and the people at the Italian restaurant are not very helpful (and the Italian restaurant is truly disorganized).
Having said that, this is a very good hotel in a beautiful place, which I would definitely recommend for a holiday.
