“olive grove dream”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2014

I am a rather frequent visitor to the area. Typically what I need is a solid sound good basis for solitary archaeological tourism. Hotel Krini is my personal basis, because of its convenient location, its superb quality of lodgings, service, installations, food and personnel, rendered unparalleled if one should count the incredibly good money value for what it offers. Because of this combination, I check for Krini first and try other hotels if this one is fully booked. My own touring is not so much leisure as short stopovers scrutinizing the landscape for leads to unidentified or suspected archaeological sites. The dramatic bay is the antiquity watcher's dream, as it seems to contain many more secrets than those officially acknowledged and studied, an amazing window to the past. The bay smoothly mixes into the spacious silver olive grove seen beautifully from the higher floors, thus giving a good sense of the timeless balance of nature and man on the unique island of Crete and its exceptional historical cultural mix.

Room Tip: Top floor affords unforgettable sunrises.

My friend and I booked two rooms at this lovely hotel at the last minute, having been let down by our pre-booked accommodation. How lucky we were to find it! From the start the welcome was warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Our rooms were fairly standard, but clean and fit-for-purpose, with the chambermaids doing a great job every day. My room had temperamental air con / plumbing but this was dealt with very well by Kristina and her cheerful and ever-helpful team (my friend's room was trouble free). I was upgraded to a room upstairs with stunning views and given a free dinner to support the verbal apologies they provided for these problems. We later heard that the hotel is in the first year of new management and makeovers by the current owner / team, and they have obviously worked hard to get it right and train the staff to such a high standard. The taxi driver who took us back to the airport said all the tourists he sees from this hotel speak well of it, and said they are planning further refurbishments too. It won't need much to make it perfect.

The pool is lovely, with plenty of sun beds and umbrellas and the staff are excellent. So friendly, attentive and have a great sense of humour. After a couple of days we felt like one of the family, and really didn't want to leave to go home at the end of our 9 day stay. Breakfast has a good selection every day and the evening meals (if you opt to have them) are tasty and well cooked.

There is a small and unspoiled beach a few minutes walk away and beeches with sunbeds, umbrellas, shower and changing hut just a bit further. A walk into the town takes 10 - 15 minutes along the coastal path, where there are numerous cafes and restaurant offering a variety of foods and prices and more bustle and noise. You can catch a bus to Agios Nikoloas or to Plaka from right outside the hotel for a flat fare of 1.60 euro.

The hotel is surrounded by well kept gardens (not accessible) was lovely and quiet in the evenings, with the more lively atmosphere just 10 - 15 minutes walk away.

So overall our stay was relaxing, comfortable and we were very well looked after. I'm ever considering going back again, which is something I rarely do.

Room Tip: first floor rooms have amazing views of the sea and surrounding countryside.

I would like to strongly recommend the KRINI HOTEL in Elounda, Crete. My husband and I just stayed there from August 26 till 28, 2014. We were just looking for a room to spend one night. Yet, we did not only succumb to the charm and beauty of the place, but we particularly enjoyed the genuine and warm welcome Kristina (responsible for the hotel) and all her staff extended to us during our stay. We ended up staying for three days and would have remained there longer, had we not needed to go back to France.

The hotel is just beautiful, extremely clean and very quiet. Our spacious and comfortable room had a double terrace overlooking the sea. Breakfast was delicious; it even included a large glass of freshly squeezed oranges. A relaxing music, just at the right volume, was floating in the room meanwhile we were eating. The Krini hotel includes a beautiful swimming pool with a relaxing area surrounded by abundant flowers.

We promised ourselves to go back to this area of Crete and stay in the same place. The small city of Elounda is just wonderful and the island Spinalonga facing Plaka, only a couple of miles north, is worth the visit…The island has become the object of a wonderful book by Vitoria Hislop….

Please go to Krini Hotel and you will love Crete even more! Contact Kristina for reservations. You will just be enchanted.
Helena

Room Tip: ask for a double terrace like we had

In August 2014, we stayed in the hotel for one week with my boyfriend, it is very clean and all stuff is very friendly and always ready to help, the reception is open 24 hours, they speak Russian, English and Greek. Our room has sea view on Elounda bay and the sun raise is very beautiful. Location is amazing, just 10 mins walking to the seaside and to the Elounda city center. As we have never eat in the hotel, unfortunately, I have no idea about kitchen. The swimming is very clean. The only trouble is the road just behind the hotel, so in the morning it was quite noisy :(

Room Tip: Ask sea view rooms.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Krini Hotel in Elounda. It was actually a very spontaneous decision to spend a few days in Crete at the end of our island hopping trip in August and we were pleased to find such a nice hotel at the last minute for a decent price. The staff was very nice and helpful, and were able to give us good suggestions for restaurants, beaches in the area and other activities to do. As we had more luggage than our airline allowed, they even helped us ship a package back home.

The hotel itself is a basic 3 star hotel with a nice pool and plenty of sun loungers, great location close to the center of Elounda and parking is possible in front of the hotel. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Greece. The room was very clean and the air conditioning was efficient and not too loud. We stayed on the second floor and had a great view from our balcony over the lake. I can only recommend the hotel and would like to thank the staff for the great hospitality.

Our stay at Krini hotel on July was very pleasant. My girlfriend appreciated the cleanness of the room and the romantic view of the sea from our balcony. The staff was very helpful in answering all our questions about the area and in suggesting nice places to visit. We would very much like to return there next year. Thank you all there!!!!
