“Eck'n'Ails”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

Just got home from a week at Elounda Blu with my wife and found the experience excellent. Staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for you. Buffet style eating for all meals which was varied with various themes, Greek, Cretan, but if you don't eat red meat chicken was very scarce which meant my wife ate mostly fish and vegetables. The scenery is stunning we had a balcony room on level 3 which looked out to Spinalonga in the west and the east gave you the rest of the bay the balconies are mostly north facing and get very limited sun, The rooms were spotless as was the rest of the hotel, facilities are superb and the pool was big enough to accommodate all who used it with plenty of available sun loungers. Don't usually go back to the same place twice but we would make this an exception. Even the steep climbs are worth the effort.

Room Tip: Level 3 and higher have the best views but the rooms with pools get very limited sun.

Me and my girlfriend who are both in are early twentys arrived at elounda blu on the 2nd of October first impressions of the hotel was brilliant all the staff that we saw on arrival greeted u with a smile and made you feel at ease straight away.
1 week before arrival at the elounda blu I had been looking at the different rooms they had available I really liked the sound of the junior suit with your own private pool I emailed the chat line for the elounda blu hotel and to my surprise they emailed me back straight away unfortunately the room wasn't available for the whole week as it had already been booked a day later I received another email from elounda saying they we could have the room for 3 nights and then be moved to another room which we agreed on. On arrival the staff behind the reception already had knowledge on are situation with rooms which I fort was brilliant we was shown to are room and luggage carried for us aswell on entering are room we was left a bottle of red wine and through the sliding doors we see the sparkly blue water from our own private pool and breath taking views and to top it all off we had are own jet bath in the corner of the living room area. The weather was really good out there aswell for this time of year 1 day it hit 33deg"s and the rest was 29 to 30 deg"s,
The food at the hotel was also nice we ended eating at the Asian restaurant at the top of the hotel twice as the food was soon nice and chief and waitress where lovely saying that every member of staff where brilliant angalina and marina especially angalina worked as the waitress at the Asian restaurant she was so lovely to talk to and always greeted you with a smile. Marian was the lady in the shop down stairs who every time you went down the welcomed u with a smile and a hello and couldn't do enough to help you was a pleasure to meet her. If you are looking for a week or two away from work and the miserable uk then this really is the hotel and holiday for you.

Room Tip: Go for the junior suit with private pool really is worth it

We have just returned after having spent a week in the Elounda Blu in one of the highest suites they have. This suite was looking out towards Spinalonga, which is a must to visit, the views of the bay from the balcony were wonderful. The suite which did not have its own pool, (we preferred a balcony), was very comfortable, clean and adequately appointed. The towels and bedding were changed every day. The food, breakfast and evening meals, was excellent with a very large selection cereals, cold meats, cheeses, yoghurts etc for beakfast, and a varied selection of fish and meat dishes, salads etc for evening meals, there was loads of choice! There was an evening of Italian food also, which was excellent.
Having read the comments made early in the year we wondered if the commentators had stayed in the same place!! We wish that a 14 day stay had been booked and not the 7 day break which we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were all very helpfull, attentive and eager to please. Our stay was all over far too quickly but hopefully we will return next season and have more time to explore more of the surrounding area. Well done Alounda Blu.

Room Tip: If you have trouble walking up "steep" slopes make sure you book a lower placed room. If y...

Staff are very helpful and pleasant and nothing is too much trouble. Our room, on the fifth level had the most wonderful views over the bay to Spinalonga. No-one could see into our room so we slept with the curtains open and woke each morning to see the magnificent dawn rising over the sea. We had a private pool attached to the room but it was too cold to use much. The hotel is on 5 levels rising up the mountainside and the access to the top two levels is pretty steep. But that is where the best views are. The food is excellent, typical buffet so that you can ring your own menu changes as you see fit. There are hand made chips for those who cannot do without them! We were all inclusive but there is a list of what that includes and its not everything in the bar. The barman is perfectly efficient but is effusively friendly with some people and not so with others leaving one wondering why. All the other staff are excellent and very hard working. The young woman running the pool bar runs everywhere and never stops smiling - what a treat!

Room Tip: If you have difficulty with steep inclines ask for a room on the first or second levels.

Just returned from the Elounda Blu and what a great hotel food was excellent and staff very friendly I believe this was there first year of no kids policy great idea The only downside was the climb to our room we were on the 4th level and it was a hard slog but probally worth it for the views and if we forgot something while sunbathing at the pool i just sent the wife back!!

Room Tip: ask for a lower level

My husband & I have just returned from a week at Elounda Blu.The hotel itself is very nice but it is not 4 star.It is also set on a very steep hill & we were in room 512 & it is away up the top so try not to take a room above the 300's if you are'nt very fit!! We were on an all-inclusive basis & that in itself was a tricky situation. There was certain things not allowed on all inclusive but I thought that was the whole point of it!! The pool bar & the the main bar did not allow bottles of water to be given out only glasses & you were'nt allowed to eat from the grill bar unless you paid for it which is absolutely ridiculous considering the whole point of AI is that you've already paid. The main bar has a list of "branded spirits" but you dont actually get told what ones you are allowed & its only certain cocktails allowed also. The staff are very friendly & helpful & work very long hours & yet they always have a smile on their face somehow.
I know I have painted a bad picture but it is a very chilled out & relaxing hotel & the beach is right across the road aswell.
You are able to use the AI there aswell.
Elounda is a 15 minute walk away & there are some very nice bars & restaurants there....... Babel is great for a cocktail or beer & they show all the sport you could want. Porto rino is very nice also & very reasonable.I did enjoy my time at the Elounda Blu but I would recommend you check what room you are staying in first & work out wether you think its worth going AI

Have just returned after a very relaxing stay on a half board basis at the Elounda Blu.I must congratulate the management on putting together a first class service in all areas. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble they were all very friendly. There was plenty of choice when it came to dining both at breakfast and evening meal and the themed cretan and italian breakfast's and evening meals with the staff explaining all the dishes was a really good idea. The bar staff were lovely and the cocktails a must we had one or two every night. We stayed in the 500's which is at the very top of a very steep hill, it kept us fit and we didn't feel guilty at all the food we were eating. The Elounda Blu is situated in a lovely area and only a 20minute walk to Elounda and a 40minute walk to Plaka. There is a bus stop outside at the bottom of the hill if you don't want to walk although a taxi into Elounda was only 5euros.
