“Luxury in a relaxed environment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

We arrived at the resort via a bumpy, poorly maintained road and were a little nervous. However the reception staff were fabulous. 10 minutes later we were strolling past the golf course to the beach, where sun bed waitress service was excellent. The restaurants all provided a good quality meal and there was a reasonable selection of good wines. Most evenings we dined in the hotel and the service was outstanding. Our customer services liason was Ria, who could not have done more to ensure our stay was relaxed. She arranged a number of excursions for us and is now arranging for some Cretan Urns to be delivered to the UK! The acid test is whether the children want to go back and the answer is a resounding Yes. The resort succeeds because of the staff. The suite with private pool was lovely, if a little basic, but we spent most of our time in the glorious sunshine. Private boat trips to Elounda village and Spinalonga were fantastic, we can't wait to return

Room Tip: Make friends with the beach staff and they will always find you a good spot.

We were at porto elounda for 7 days (2 to 9 October 2012) and stayed at a room with a private pool.
Food, service and room cleaning is perfect , the hotel has a private beach with sand which is great.
We tried the Italian alacarte restaurant ; and it was really good.
The spa is fantastic and there is a heated sea water pool with a view of the whole golf. Fantastic!
My rating for this hotel is 5 points and i will definetely go back..

We stayed at Porto Elounda for 5 days in October. 4 adults and 2 children. We had a room with a private pool, very nice and spacious room, fun with kids. hard to use the pool in the afternoon because it is too cold. the view is amazing. The real treat is the private beach and pool area. the beach is so beautiful and quiet and the water totally clear.
the staff was very nice and polite. the food was very nice, good selection for adults and children.
we ate at the Italian restaurant one night, the food was excellent. Overall we had a wonderful vacation, very recommended.

Part of a Hotel group in Elounda about an hour from Heraklion airport by taxi - 2 hours plus if you share a tourist bus! We chose a deluxe room with private plunge pool for our wedding anniversary trip. Lovely room and bathroom, clean and spacious - no complaints. Sound of running water in the room at night (pool above) and evidence of leaks in the past. Plunge pool fun but not used too much - terrace area quite small.

Hotel faces East built on hill with 9 hole golf course in front overlooking the bay so morning sunshine but gone by 4.30 pm - and no sunset! View of bay spoilt by sister hotel built in front of our hotel (Elounda Peninsular) and unfinished hotel to the right.

A little shocked to find so many children of all ages in the hotel - beach area quite noisy during the morning - and crowded. The situation became untenable when a Russian Conference began - 150 delegates with a limited conference timetable they spoilt several days by swamping the beach and the noise levels didn't make for a peaceful anniversary stay.

We were half board with all meals ‘buffet style’ in the Nafiska restaurant in our hotel. Generally good basic Mediterranean food but not too many traditional Greek dishes in the evening and a little disappointing variety. We did use the restaurants in the other sister hotels and received a Euro 20 per person voucher. However, the Al a Carte meals, though very good, were very expensive as indeed were all drinks in the hotel.

The staff were very good and helpful and overall we enjoyed our stay but could have done without the conference and the children – more care in planning in future!

Room Tip: Don't bother with private plunge pool unless for a special occassion

Stayed 25/09 - 2/10. Everything you need from a holiday. Wonderfully relaxing hotel and staff friendly and helpful. Rooms kept very clean. Huge bathrooms, Fantastic views over the golf course to the sea. Situation a little out of town very little shade to walk. Excellent pools, beach and with the convenience of a 9/18 hole golf course and wonderful Six Senses Spa . Beakfast buffet and evening meal good but drinks a little pricey - the only criticism.
All the Cretan people we met were friendly. Forget about the economy it will not effect your stay. Will be going back.

Just back from 5 days here and loved every minute. It's a hotel complex really but it's cleverly designed so that the areas feel cosy - for example the beach area is a lovely horseshoe shape with safe area for paddling and there's a bar for drinks and ices. There is also a very nice Italian/Greek restaurant by the sea too. We really enjoyed the great French restaurant at the Elounda Mare sister hotel which is 10 minutes walk away. I really liked this hotel - more boutique style but it doesn't have the incredible Six Senses spa which surely must be one of the main reasons to go to Porto Elounda Hotel! Wow - it's a proper destination spa - very stylish and with excellent therapists and you can spend the day there having treatments or just lazing in the pool or thelasso pools. We went with Wellbeing Escapes and they organised everything perfectly. I did a flexible fitness package so tried a new activity every day (great fun) and also had a spa treatment per day. I couldn't have done it cheaper myself so worth asking for a quote. The weather was hot and seemingly it stays that way until mid November or so. Go!

Room Tip: The rooms are a great size and tastefully decorated in blue and taupe. Try and get a sea view - wor...
