I went to Elounda with my mum in October. We went to Thalassomylos because 'Mimi' the manager approached us and was very welcoming and explained everything on the menu to us. A meal with a starter, main and dessert costs anything from 8 euros to 15 euros, depending what you have. Mimis wife Sofia cooks the food to perfection. We tried Mams restaurant and also Zorbas, but it still was not as good as Thalassomylos. We back about 4 times and Mimis was just so friendly, the fish platter was excellent and cost around 40 euro for 2, you can get these platters cheaper, but Sofias cooking is beautiful and Mimis also went fishing for all the platter that very morning, so we knew it would be fresh. Unlike Mams restaurant, we had swordfish there and it was disgusting, you could tell it had been frozen, the peas and carrots were out of a tin and not only was the food horrible, but also the atmosphere. Niko the waiter was annoying and danced and shouted at the table, it gets busy there but honestly I dont know why. Mimis at Thalassomylos makes you feel like one of the family, if you want to just be left alone then he will do this, if you want to find out about Elounda etc he will tell you anything. Also his friend Georgio pops down in the quiet period and we was lucky enough to meet him who also befriended us and told us lots about the island. The wine and if you want to try 'Raki' is nice because as we learnt this restaurant serves proper wine and Raki, unlike othere restaurants like Mams that serves cheap wine which is around 16% and the Raki being 80% proof. Mimis will not rush you and you can take in the sea view and just drink and chat after your meal. Please be aware though of Demitrios, he is very good looking and works next door to the right of this restaurant, he can be rude. Georgio was really friendly (Mimis friend), he is a true gentleman and will protect you all the time, be aware for a man called Mikkel who followed me all over the Island. Georgio took us next door after the meal, which is Nikos bar (Mimis brother) where you can sit outside taking in the views and use the internet, drink and listen to music. I miss this place and the friends I made.
