“Great nights stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014

After arriving in the early hours of the morning(late flight arrival) it was lovely to be greeted
By a smiling face. Comfortable clean room and good breakfast. Great if you arrive in Chania before setting off to explore the island. Helpful staff and good value.

Both times I've stayed at the Monte Vardia, I have been very happy with my room and the atmosphere it provides. They have a nice pool with a outdoor bar. All of the upstairs rooms have a good view of the ocean with balconies to sit out on. The hotel is in a great location there is a good place to eat right next door and a mini market to buy snacks from. If you want to go downtown you can just take a left out of the parking lot and its a straight shot to downtown Chania it will take about 8 minutes. You'll be hard pressed to find a better staff and price.

We are a couple in our 60's who have been travelling for 9 months. so have stayed in a lot of hotels.
We booked here for 4 days and stayed 6.
This hotel is older but is very clean and well maintained.
The shower had tons of hot water at an excellent pressure.
The large double bed was very comfortable.
The Air Con kept the room toasty warm on the odd cool winter day with help from the double glazing.
The room was large.
WiFi was available throughout the building. On arrival we had a few glitches but the owners were quick to sort it out, even bringing in a technician.
The breakfast was quite adequate with eggs cooked to order.
We appreciated the availability of tea and coffee throughout the day.
Eleni (receptionist) was an absolute gem. I wasn't allowed to take her home with me.
As mentioned in other reviews she could not do enough for us and helped us with directions to restaurants, onward bookings, advice on sightseeing trips and so on.
She has become a real friend.
The hotel is in a lovely quiet location between the city and the airport with tons of room for parking. You would need your own vehicle.
There are a host of restaurants and a well stocked supermarket all within 5 minutes driving.
If we return to Crete we will certainly stay at this accommodation which is centrally located for a lot of sightseeing.

Excellent family run hotel offering a truly personal service. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful but a special thanks to Eleni and Christina who were exceptional. Eleni's local knowledge of the best beaches, restaurants and places to see ensured we got the most from our holiday. The hotel has a beautiful pool and wonderful views over Chania harbour. We stayed for a week bed and breakfast which offered exceptional value with lovely food. Nothing was too much trouble and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel to others. We hope to return one day as we enjoyed our stay so much.

Staying on business during September I was greeted on day 1 with a warm welcome from Christina, Eleni and their parents and the warmth of the hospitality never waivered until I left 15 days later. I can honestly say that a family run hotel such as this makes me realise why I do'nt like the big corporate hotel chains that offer the world...and deliver very little. At no time did I feel like just another guest. As a family hotel the personal touches during my stay were over & above what I expected. A truly memorable stay. Stay once, you will definitely want stay again. All the ammenities you could want during a relaxing stay, even ordering a takeaway was not a hassle for them. Plenty of things to keep you occupied during the day in & around Chania, but good to know that you return after a day of exploring to the comfort of somewhere with a friendly atmosphere, where you feel at home and nothing is too much trouble. Well done girls, keep it up!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool get the most sun from afternoon to evening.

A fantastic family run hotel. I stayed at the hotel on business for nearly 3 weeks. I stayed in the hotel as it was convenient for my work, however, the location I could not fault. Only a few miles from Chania city centre on the road to the airport, the hotel has excellent views across the harbour.

The rooms were always clean and tidy with little treats of local food left to enjoy. The rooms were on suite with air-conditioning, TV and a fridge (a must due to the heat). The pool was big enough to swim or to relax. A pool side bar was available although the owners were always available if you wanted anything. Every time I asked for something that was not standard, the owners would go out of their way to help makes sure that my stay was enjoyable. Even with early starts and late finishes each time I asked for something they would exceed my expectations.

I would highly recommend the hotel and was excellent value for money. I will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a view across the Harbour.

I had no complaint at all from this hotel.
Very reasonably priced, this hotel is only a few miles from Chania centre but far enough away for relaxation by the well-maintained pool (or even in your room) during the days and evenings. There is a kids play centre across the road and a few restaurants, cafes and shops within a few minutes walk with lovely local food and friendly staff.
My room had a TV, air conditioning, an en-suite bathroom with power-shower and a balcony with a wonderful view; lovely to sit and watch the sun rise in the morning before breakfast of traditional Greek fare.
Any issues were dealt with immediately by the staff who were wonderfully accomodating with information about the surrounding areas and also offered concern when a colleague of mine fell ill; constantly offering support and helping with greek translations on food/drug packets.
Although this was a business trip, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to any type of business or holiday maker because i plan to travel there for a personal holiday at some time in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room overlooking the front... the views from the 2nd floor were really breathtakin...
