“What a great holiday location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

A truly relaxing place to visit at this time of year. Probably a lot quieter than it is during high season. A very picturesque, medieval town, just like it says on the tin. The best restaurants are in the quaint backstreets, where they probably have to try a bit harder than those on the harbour front. A bit cheaper too. The old town is a pedestrian precinct, and there is free parking near by. Warning: The locals can get very ingenious when it comes to finding a place to park a car. If you are hiring a car, take the additional insurance and avoid the otherwise unrelenting worry. If you are looking for a romantic holiday, it is unlikely that you will find the best hotels in any tour operator brochure.

Room Tip: Edem mezzanine is quietest, but noise is only a problem in high season. If visiting in Spring or Aut...

This was our 4th or 5th stay (or was it even more??) stay at Casa Leone. It feels so good to meet wonderful Maria, Nicos and Tonia again, almost like long lost friends. Especially thanks to Maria for meze when we got visitors, to Tonia for breakfast our first day and to Nicos for wonderful olive oil and soaps! Our favorite room was just great this time too, and though there are many nice small hotels/b&b's in Chania's old town, we are not able to find a better place! Hope to be back next year too.

The staff at the Casa Leone could not more pleasant or more helpful. So it must be very difficult for them that a night-club has recently started below the hotel with extremely loud music until 4:30am on Saturdays. Of course you expect noise in a busy tourist harbour like Chania and every other night of our stay was acceptable. However Saturday night took the edge off what otherwise was a perfect hotel for its size and price, the breakfast was particularly outstanding. We will come back again for sure, but this time ask for a quiet room, we recommend that you do the same.

Stayed here 2 years ago and wrote glowing review of rooms, breakfast, staff and views. None of that has changed, however, a new club has opened up under the hotel that is causing a great deal of noise.
While we were there, the hotel owner took the club owner to court and won an injunction to stop him playing music that is so loud you can feel it in your chest as well as hear it. The club owner is ignoring the injunction and the hotel owner is reliant on the local police to shut him down when he starts up. Unfortunately, the local police are not giving the hotel owner the backing he needs every night and so the noise continues on an irregular basis.
The owner is trying his best to retain the good name of his hotel but without better police help he may well fail. I am very sorry for the owner and his staff who are doing all that they can but the slow system is letting them down.

Romantic romantic romantic! It's a wonderful place with the coast view, all the good area, well located. The staff was really really amazing, I couldn't complement more, she was so nice with us, although we went in Winter time and was the only one on the Hotel, she prepared a special breakfast just for us, a huge and very taste all days, even the days that we were sleeping until late. Totally worth the price and recommended!!!

We stayed here the first few nights of our honeymoon before driving east. The location is perfect... overlooking the main part of town, the harbor, the water, etc. The room was lush and restored nicely to the Venetian colonial period. The staff was helpful, charismatic, accommodating and knowledgable. Oh yeah, and breakfast was abundant and delicious.
