My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel for 4 days (July 2014).
Language was not an issue. They spoke English and Greek.
The service we received from Barbara, Athena (Owner) and the service personnel was outstanding in every way and very helpful. They made us feel right at home the minute we walked in. Someone was always at the front desk at all hours to help you with whatever you needed. We were provided with a map of downtown Chania (15-20 minute walk) with highlighted places to visit and restaurants to eat at. This was very handy to have with you when getting around. If you prefer a taxi, they can arrange it. The cost was ~5 euro (with tip) to downtown Chania.
Our room (#5) was a slit level suite on the second / third floor. The bottom floor was the living room with all the amenities and upper floor was the bedroom / bathroom. The room was quaint and was decorated nicely.
Breakfast was served on the balcony overlooking the sea, in your room or by the pool (0730-1100). We preferred the balcony witch was a perfect choice for us. You were shaded from the sun in the morning with a nice cool breeze. Breakfast was a great selection of pastries and interesting Crete delights along with freshly squeezed orange juice.
I would highly recommend staying here for your weekend or vacation getaway. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!
When we return (and we will), this would be our first choice.
