My wife and i spent 4 nights at Villa Georgia. While is not a luxury hotel, it was very clean, good location, with spacious rooms and a great view. Breakfast was generous and delicious. Where this place truly shines though is the ospitality. Fanis was phenomenal. He waited for us till past midnight the day of our atrival, he served us breakfast on our balcony every morning, and made cappuccinos for us. He was knowledeable about where to go, see, and eat and was always spot on. He even opened up a room to allow us to shower from the beach at 2 pm the day we left. If you can read this, Fanis thank you for your hospitality. You truly are a shining example of Cretan hospitality. We can't wait to return and explore more of your beautiful island. We spent 3 days at Villa Georgia on our wonderful trip to Crete. It was truly a treat to walk into the room and see a wonderful view of the see. The room was spotless with everything you would need to relax and enjoy your stay. We had an opportunity to stay in the room equipped with little stove and fridge and we were able to make our own breakfast and enjoy it each morning on our patio overlooking the sea. The hotel is located in a nice area. Close to restaurants just across the street and all kinds of shopping but at the same time away from those super busy touristy areas. We loved everything about this place but Fanis really makes this place special. He directed us to places to see with great directions. He is very passionate about his guests and he will make you feel welcome and comfortable as soon as you arrive. We would stay here again, for sure and I can't wait to go back to Crete. I miss it already. Thank you Fanis! Joanna and Peter

My wife and I are in night 3 of a 4 night stay at Villa Georgia as I write this in mid September 2013.This is our first trip to Crete and we are using Villa Georgia as a 4 night base to see the west side of Crete via car. This is a wonderful place to stay!

Fanis is a fabulous host. We arrived late our first night (a little after 11 PM) after a long trip to Crete and he was waiting to help us as we arrived. He had emailed me detailed directions earlier in the day how to find this gem of hotel tucked a 100 or 200 meters up above the Kalamaki beach area (a few miles west of Chania on the ocean road). It is a little tricky to find at night. He helped us carry in our luggage, and had the AC in our room on and a cold bottle of water waiting in the fridge and offered to make us food.

The next morning he and Georgia (his mother for whom I believe the place was named) delivered us a beautiful huge hand cooked breakfast on our balcony overlooking the ocean (as Fanis promised, he actually waited until he saw me return from my morning run and then brought breakfast a few minutes later). I later found out that many of the food items in the breakfast (like the eggs) come from his grandfather's farm up in the hills of Crete. Today's breakfast was equally wonderful.

The room is really a suite and is beautifully equipped with a nice bathroom, a nice king bed in a bedroom with ocean view that opens out to a private ocean view balcony ("panoramic view" as other guests described it), as well as a separate living room that has twin beds and a kitchenette and the private bathroom off it. Parking is on a pad in front of the hotel and since there are 4 or 5 rooms and 3 pad parking spots, I am not sure where the other guests park if it fills up, perhaps on the hilly street? We have had a good parking spot every night so no issue for us so far. WiFi is readily available with best service sitting in the back of the unit or in the living room. Harder to get on the balcony unfortunately. Mostly we left the unit wide open to let the breezes blow through but used the AC a little bit at night to cool the place off after warm days. Bugs were not a problem in September but we understand mosquitos can be bad in the summer.

Fanis gave us great local tips and based on his suggestions, we have visited multiple local beaches and restaurants, the old town of Chania, the Balos Lagoon / Beach. I've run both West and East along the Kalamaki ocean area in the mornings (I prefer heading East towards Chania and ducking behind the buildings down to the beach after the first bridge to the East - and then going beach to beach by jogging along cliff paths between the beaches). We have had nice dinners within walking distance of the hotel both nights based on other positive trip advisor reviews.

We have slept at times with the sliding doors to the balcony/ocean open but due to some traffic noise from the ocean road below we closed the doors (the glass doors still allow ocean view even if closed). The street itself that Villa Georgia is on is a quiet dead end that ends just a few hundred feet up past the hotel.

I highly recommend this place and we would stay here again if we return to Crete.

Room Tip: Rooms closer to the office / small street probably have better WiFi as others have said.

Had a brilliant stay at Villa Georgia at the end of August. Fanis and Georgia cannot do enough for you. They are proud of their island, their town and their hotel, and genuinely want you to have a great stay and experience as much as possible.

We only had breakfast (on the balcony) twice, but it was superb.

Fanis recommended car hire with Golden Wheel (just down the road) and they were amazing too....no need for a hefty credit card deposit, and good value too.

Using the pool down the road wasn't a chore at all, and was beautiful.

I must admit we didn't spend a lot of time in Kalamaki, although I would certainly recommend the Piato restaurant....a short walk through the resort, heading towards Chania.
As well as having the hire car, we used the local bus (the stop is at the bottom of the hill, and the price about 1.50 euros).

Spend a very short time on the beach at Kalamaki, but made a day of it at Elafonisi and Falasarna, as per Fanis' well received recommendations. Do not miss those places!

Our room was spacious, extremely clean (and cleaned EVERY day), the shower hot, the balcony looking out to sea and also felt private, the air conditioning reliable.....I'm trying to think of a negative...but really cannot think of anything!!

Oh, and as it was my girlfriend's birthday, Fanis & Georgia kindly bought her a bottle of wine. From the little thoughts to the big ones, I can't recommend this place enough. Perfect.
